Roy might have been doing the love taps to the top of Kimbo's head just so he could end the fight without doing too much damage to Kimbo, at least that's what I'm telling myself. He's still too cocky for his own good.

I'm really rooting for Kimbo to get a win in his TUF Finale fight. One thing I would like to see is him getting taken down and getting out of it, maybe even reversing a mount or something. He's got such a great attitude that I want him to earn the respect of the MMA world with some good quality wins. This episode really hit me.

Ill give Kimbo props for trying to fight real fighters but come the hell on, if you have ever had any faith or belief that this guy was ever going to be good in MMA you honestly don't grasp the concept of true MMA or have only started watching since Kimbo or Brock Lesnar came into the picture.

I'm not going to go into one of my rage rants right now because I am sure and I truly hope at least we can all agree Kimbo fucking sucks, and is nothing more than a backstreet prison brawler when if he is ever getting his ass kicked on the youtube vids, his "boys" stop the fight and restart it. The guy's a marketing whale but a serious joke. Stick a fork in this fuckin guy already and let him go back to bodyguarding pornstars and fighting typical compton trash for 500 bucks a pop...

Nelson just kind of bothers me a bit. He's far too sure of himself and way too cocky. We understand you were a champion in the IFL. This isn't the IFL. The same things you did there aren't going to work against top UFC heavyweights. Could you see him fighting the way he did against someone like Cain Velasquez and still be able to win a fight? I think not.

I'm really hoping Big Country just had a case of nerves. He looked terrible against Kimbo, maybe 'cause he didn't wanna be the guy that Kimbo KO'd on the ultimate fighter when everyone in the world was watching.

I was thinking the same thing. He looked way too tenative in that fight. Not that Kimbo looked any better. Sure seems like all the time off he hasn't spent working on his ground game. The issue that I have with that fight is that you're there to make an impression. These guys don't exactly have all the time in the world to do that. They fight what three, maybe four times before the end. A couple of subpar showings is enough to send them packing. I didn't expect much from Slice. I did expect a bit more from Nelson with his experience.

This was kind of a rage rant by the way, and while I can understand people being inclined to doubt Kimbo's legitimacy as a fighter, that has very little to do with whatever the "true concept of MMA" is. He gave Roy a few good hits, got taken down by a Jiujutsu expert, and was TKO'd with mediocre strikes; that isn't a sign for him to hang up his gloves and fight hobos in a trainyard, it just means he needs to seriously work on his ground game if he expects to fight higher caliber opponents.

The match was obviously going to be great for ratings, but it isn't like team Rashad chose it to be thrilling; they chose it because, well, Roy doesen't suck and they needed to beat down Slice. What is sad is that they chose the best fighter to impose himself on Kimbo, and Roy did just enough to win, nothing more.

and was TKO'd with mediocre strikes
I wouldn't even go as far as to call those strikes mediocre.

I'll make my judgement of Slice at the end of the season. But I'm not going to be shocked to see him go down. I also think it's a bit unfair to claim he's not worth a look at. He's got great power that he uses well in stand up but he has no ground game. If that's what you're basing your comments off of then you should take a look around at some other fighters who fit that mold. Right off the bat there's Cro Cop and Tim Sylvia. Both have had good long careers while almost always attempting to avoid being taken down. So if Kimbo is able to work on his takedown defense to the point where he can consistently avoid being taken to the ground he could have a fairly productive career. I'm not going to say he's going to be a fantastic fighter. I'm thinking the Bob Sapp of the UFC lol.

I was sad to see Kimbo lose like that. I have liked him for a long time. In his defense, even people who have been trained a lot in Jiu-Jitsu or wrestling, are going to have a hard time when there is someone 34 pounds heavier than them, smothering them with their huge flabby gut. I am sure he will get invited to a good camp, if he hasn't already.

I thought I saw something a while back where Kimbo was training with Bas Routton. (I know I spelled that wrong)

Kimbo was training with Bas Rutten, but that was some time before TUF began.

Was hoping to see Kimbo knock that fat fuck out, god that guy just seems like the biggest douchebag, and not the kind of douchebag I usually enjoy. Pretty much everything I was thinking have been said, I wasn't too impressed with smothering someone out with your fat gut, but Kimbo really needs to work on getting out of that kind of shit.... that was really hard to watch.

Sad thing is I'm inclined to believe Bas despite the "softer" side of Kimbo being shown lol.

need to find the article about how he was training with american top team, got put in an armbar and didnt tap cuz he doesnt like to tap, dude cranked it hard and it pissed kimbo off so he came back with a gun.

edit: it would appear googling kimbo slice american top team gun works wonders

Despite being an MMA fan for a long time, I never followed TUF (I hate reality TV) - is it common for a fighter with the ridiculous amount of experience that Roy Nelson has to be on the show? He seems way too established to me to be on a show like this.

He is definitely a fighter that could have entered the UFC without being on the show first. Being that he is known more for his losses (Rothwell & Arlovski), I dont think its a really big deal though.

Sanchez, Stevenson, Danzig & Soszynski come to mind for fighters with notable careers prior to coming on to the show.

Wes Sims also has fought in the UFC 3 times and has at least twice as many fights as Roy, problem is he won't do anything of note other than show the tattoos on his palms a bajillion times and act obnoxious enough to piss someone in the house off at least once.

    Trust me.

BTW since king of queens is one of my favorite repeated shows, the one with all the MMA stars is on right now (4pm est) on TBS. Check it out, they are at the end, coutre, trigg, rampage etc. Funny episode.

Nate Diaz was only 5-2 before he got on the show & was known more for being the sibling of an angry gogo loving pothead. That's not really 'established' imo.
