i wouldn't call the Sylvia Fedor beat prime Sylvia

after that second Arlovski fight (when he was cracked and dropped and nearly finished in the first round, again) Sylvia's whole game changed up, he became a tentative distance points-fighter

now i think Fedor beats any version of Tim but the dude who danced around Jeff Monson playing pattycake for five rounds wasn't the knockout artist that razed the UFC's, admittedly weak, heavyweight division

Even in Fedor's hayday, he had issues with grapplers. The three fighters he had the most problems with were Arona, Randleman, and Fujita. Every time Fedor fought a striker (Schilt/Cro Cop/Timmy/Arlovski), he absolutely blasted them. Styles make fights and shit. Heavy weight grapplers that could take down Fedor had the best opportunity to defeat him.

that's true. but if we're talking strictly size he was still huge, way bigger than fedor. so if the argument is that fedor beating sylvia is evidence that he could overcome size disadvantage then it's a legit example. but that was 2 and a half years prior to the bigfoot fight... he was at the end of his prime for arlovski, his prime was long gone by bigfoot. ahh i miss the fedor that made sitting in big nog's guard look like a walk in the park.

What is with this arbitrary time-line of someones "prime?" The guy didn't lose his prime, he just refused to adapt to a rapidly evolving sport and trained as if it were still 2004. The guy is the BJ Penn of HW's, naturally gifted but lazy as shit.

I think Browne fucked/hyperextended his knee throwing all those fancy kicks at the beginning of the fight, or maybe when him and Big foot were grappling.. either way you could tell the fight was over as soon as he couldn't really walk and move well.
