okami looked pretty confident & aggressive the first round when he went after silva and pressed him up against the cage and tried to grapple him. if i recall towards the end of the first round silva landed a head kick, and i think that was the turning point for okami's confidence

Okami never had a chance... it was all ppv hype on the whole "last guy to beat Anderson Silva" crap. He knew he would have lost if he got back up in 2006, so he bitched out. All of Okami's confidence came from lolChael.

If Okami could've gotten Anderson down for 5 rounds straight, he'd have won. Yushin played in Maia's guard for 15 minutes in ADCC without being tapped, Anderson sure as hell wasn't going to do it. The likelihood of Anderson not dropping Okami at some point on the feet was pretty small though.

Just went back and watched the prelim fights I missed, the judge who gave Marcello a 30-27 scorecard is an idiot.

Haha I obviously didn't google at all, I heard he had a "significant" fight against Forrest that mattered during the commentary, assume he had won it.

In that case, still an epic display of skill by Silva, but yeah checking Stephan's Wiki now, he's never beat anyone of importance.

That's the issue of Chael/Okami's strat going against Anderson. Neither of them really have a way to win except by decision. Which is risky as all hell as you need to quite literally fight the perfect fight by not get caught on the feet for 25 minutes. Which is a hard task to overcome, 25 minutes is a long time. Fighters who have a better chance against Anderson would be those who could win by TKO or submission on the ground early on, lowering the chance of getting tagged.

Cormier/Jones would be amazing and I'd love to see it. The only problem with the fight is if Daniel can actually drop the weight, what with his kidney problems.

I agree with the article though. All these fights being turned down is becoming a god damn epidemic in the UFC, and it's making the org look like a joke.

I'll watch Chael on a tv show but that fight just seems ridiculous especially because it's not a short notice thing thrown together. This fight is just going to tie Jon up for several months so they might as well just schedule him to defend his title against a real 205 fighter a few weeks after the Chael fight so he get his easy win and then have a real fight so the division isn't tied up for so long.
