i think that could be said about a lot of things really. i still chuckle about his pursuit of fedor back in the day when his opinion of fedor's skills and overall greatness was dependent on his current contract status or lack thereof.

did dana ever go through with that soccer match he was challenged to?

Wasn't M-1 demanding some stupid shit like a stadium be built in Russia for Fedor lol. Fuck those guys, all evidence points to them being impossible to work with, not on Dana.

It was definitely M-1's fault for asking for 50% of Zuffa or whatever ridiculous shit it was. But the constant slander and shit Dana was spewing towards a single fighter was also absolute lunacy lol. Especially one he thought, and talked about, so highly of before the negotiations failed.

yeah haha i heard about the stadium demand, i found that amusing. i've heard different stories about who was holding up negotiations, really depending on who was reporting it. but my understanding is that they were eventually able to work most things out, that dana & m-1 had come to an agreement on just about everything, and the one thing that was non-negotiable for both sides was co-promotion. but before that was resolved, there was some stuff about how dana was trying to pressure fedor into signing by leaking false details about the contract that was supposedly offered to them, and that was i guess the last straw that ended negotiations.

but yeah if you search around you can find clips of dana saying fedor is not ducking competition that it's just his management, and that fedor is the greatest heavyweight and p4p fighter, etc. then other clips where he's saying fedor was overrated, all before he signed with strikeforce.

i've never actually watched an m-1 event. despite their reputation for being a leech company i've always heard their events are pretty entertaining?

and yeah he hates soccer. he'd been trashing soccer for a while saying it takes no talent to be good at it, so some pro soccer player challenged him to a match, which dana accepted. i never heard about it taking place though.

The released contract details for Affliction and Strikeforce on M-1 were freaking crazy. Not only co-promotion, but Fedor was getting 1.5 million per fight with a supposed 1.2 million going to M-1 for "consulting fees." I'm pretty sure the deal fell through do outrageous M-1 demands, Dana just finally flipped out and said fuck it to everything.

I don't watch M-1 events really. Just the odd fights I've heard were off the wall and worth a look-see.

you know what dana is... he's an immature kid who got rejected by the girl he likes.

step 1: boy likes girl, showers her with praises
dana talks about how fedor is the greatest heavyweight, greatest p4p, and how wonderful it would be to sign him to ufc

step 2: girl reject boy, boy refuses to admit she just doesn't like him, and makes excuses for it about the timing not being right or whatever
fedor declines and fights for m-1, bodog, and affliction, so dana insists that fedor is not at fault, it was his management that was crazy

step 3: girl becomes single again, boy sees and opening and starts to shower her with praises
affliction collapses, dana once again starts to talk about fedor's greatness and tries to sign him to ufc

step 4: girl once again rejects boy, boy does complete 180 and starts talking trash about girl, refusing to admit that maybe it was him that was at least partially at fault
fedor signs with strikeforce, at least in part because dana disrespected him, so dana goes on a tirade and starts spewing all sorts of hate, completely rescinding any praise he had for fedor in the past

step 5: boy tells his friends that if any of them remain friends with the girl, they can't be friends anymore, won't be invited to anymore parties, can't sit with him during lunch, etc.
dana white bans the TapOut clothing line from ufc events if they don't drop fedor as an endorser. probably the most douchebaggish move that dana pulled... though i forget if this happened while fedor was in strikeforce or affliction? i thought it was strikeforce...

gotta respect dana white for taking ufc to the level that it is but gah he is such an immature prick of a kid sometimes.

M-1 has as much relevance as a potato in MMA. To demand co-promotion for literally doing nothing, demand millions for a single fighter while simultaneously your own fighters make a mere couple hundred bucks a fight, and leech every MMA organization you've been affiliated with into bankruptcy, any promoter with any semblance of intelligence would tell them to go fuck themselves too.

Vinny Magalhaes himself said M-1 wouldn't even pay him for a few fights at a time and basically held him hostage, and this was their LHW champion.
