I don't know what this thread is about but I went to an MMA event last night and it was a steaming pile of shit, in 20 fights there were about 20 punches thrown of which 2 were good, they spent 99% of the time rolling around on the floor with their balls in each others faces. There is no Martial Arts involved at all, unless you consider the bow before the fights to make it suddenly "Martial" and it is definately not an Art.

'Cause shitty local fights in whatever crappy town you live in is a good barometer of the entire sport. I am not a big fan of high school football because it's terrible to watch...but I love college/pro. Besides...I thought from reading some of the other threads that you'd be into someone putting their balls in your face?

I can get two guys off the street and call them pro fighters retard. That doesn't mean they're good. Semi-pro doesn't exist, so I don't even know what the fuck you're talking about there. You are either pro or amateur fighter. I don't know the athletic commissions rules in England, but in most states here, amateur fighters can't throw elbows and have 3 minute rounds instead of 5. Watch something good, then get back to me with your opinion...'till then, keep getting drunk off your tiny ginger ass and kissing dudes...then posting pics of that in the RL Pic thread. It is entertaining for all of us. Then maybe you could get kicked from your ls and post about how you didn't play anymore anyways.

Almost impossible to find whole fights online since they get removed due to copyright restrictions. If there were no strikes to the head...then I have no idea what the fuck you were watching. Even amateur MMA allows strikes to the head...

I don't know if ur expecting some Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee'esque shit but this isn't the movies. It's called "Mixed" martial arts for a reason, so expect to see a good bit of wrestling. I would suggest looking for some videos from Lyoto Machida or Anderson Silva if you want more striking action. But ya, what do you expect from a local match in the uk

There were in most of the fights but not some and in the ones where they were allowed head shots they weren't allowed head shots when they were on the ground. I find the name MMA really misleading, I didn't see any Martial Arts, it's more like a combination of wrestling and kick boxing.

Most mixed martial artists study wrestling, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and some form of Jiu Jitsu. A lot of them also have backgrounds in Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and various other forms of martial arts. I don't know if you were expecting old school style vs. style fights, but that doesn't happen anymore because people who confine themselves to one style get destroyed. It is called mixed martial arts 'cause it's a mix of the martial arts that work well. You take what works in real situations and use it...discard the BS. I have a blackbelt in Mu Duk Kwan...don't use it much. I use a hell of a lot of my wrestling background and my Brazillian Jiu Jitsu background though. That's not saying that everyone fights the same. Youtube Lyoto Machida...he's a karate fighter who still uses a ton of it and has found ways to adapt it to MMA. He is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
