    Cointeach Camp: Preliminary Testing.

    Alright, guys. I dragged some of my friends and some random people out to a good camp for Cointeaches in Xarcabard [S].
    Our setup:

    SAM/NIN
    BLU/NIN
    MNK/NIN
    RDM/WHM
    BRD/NIN
    BRD/WHM

    No parser running, so I can't tell you who did what, but, here it goes.

    Camp POS was at (F-7), basically at the Wall of Death in Dynamis-Xarcabard.

    They are undead. They aggro to HP and Sound. They do not link. Hide is ineffective to shed aggro unlike most undead.

    EXP/Kill was rather low, only about 100exp/mob, but, kills go very fast and chains can get very high. A long Dire Gargouille and Geddim roam close enough to the camp to pose a threat to someone not paying attention. A Greater Amphiptere never seemed to roam by during the hour we were at camp.

    I had poked them a bit with my DNC in the past, and didn't notice a piercing resistance/weakness, so I brought a SAM and a MNK along to test blunt & slashing damage. They appear to have no physical resistance/weakness whatsoever, though, as the SAM said: "I found their weakness. Being hit."

    These things have RIDICULOUSLY low HP and defense. A single BLU "Big 3" spell was able to knock off ~20% of the mob's HP bar. I will test a setup of BLU, BLU, BLU, BLU, COR, BRD later. A level 3 skillchain would likely be overkill on one of them. They showed no apparent resistance to any bard song cast on them. They have no TP moves and cast black magic. Their observed spell list consists of:

    Ice Spikes
    Stun
    Blind
    Bind
    Aspir
    Drain
    Flood
    Burst
    Water IV
    Aero IV
    Blizzard IV
    Thunder IV
    Blizzaga III
    Thundaga III
    Rasp
    Choke
    Drown
    Frost
    Bio II
    Poisonga II
    Sleep
    Sleep II
    Sleepga
    Sleepga II

    One bard was dedicated to pulling, running up the hill to grab a Cointeach before running past the party, down the hill, not stopping, to pull another. If the previous monster had lived long enough for the party to not immediately engage the newly pulled Cointeach, the second bard slept it.

    No drops of any note: not even any crystals. All that dropped were Beastmen & Kindred Seals.

    EXP, from a party inexperienced at these mobs, (and not the best merited) floated around 12k/hour without EXP band.

    RDM seemed unnecessary as a healer, as, the entire time, Convert never seemed to be needed. White Mage, Scholar, or Dancer would work as well. Dancer bears more investigation due to being able to use Violent Flourish to stun -aga spells.

    /NIN sub for pulling was unnecessary. Monster hangs back to cast a spell when initially pulled. /WHM would have been more effective.

    12k an hour?

    Looks like a half decent lvl 70 camp or duo/trio camp, nothing more.

    Sounds more like a solo camp than an EXP party area.

    We had a lot of chain breaks due to a missed stun on a sleepga, or someone aggroing the Dire Gargouille, and we weren't killing as fast as I know is possible.

    PLD/RDM and BLU can duo these things up to chain 4 before needing a 2 minute break tbh. Not bad exp going that route, little more relaxed too

    Are they easily interrupted, or is it recommended to silence them? Or if they're silenced easily enough, could a BRD/WHM silence on pull?

    You know... we never really thought to try that... I'm going to go out there right now and rectify my retardation. Interrupting them wasn't hard at all, though.

    You can easily get chain 4 on solo blu, then resting to full and repeat.

    Personaly, I don't think this is a big deal. I was getting 12k/h according to expwatch. And considering my previous experience with this plugin, i'd say that was a real 7k-8k hour. In other words, slow enough to bore the hell out of me.

    I agree this would be much better duo, if only because you would at least not die from boredom.

    A side note about expwatch: I don't know about the rest of you, but every time I've actualy used this counter, it ends up giving overblown numbers. I suspect, as I used to comment with a LS mate, that it's better suited for uninterrupted fast kills (30 sec kills) than it is to accurately keep track of solo/duo exp. In the end, I just use it as a way to compare camps under similar conditions instead of taking it as word of god.

    The only thing about that setup is that you have way too much buffing for mobs that basically have no HP whatsoever.

    You wouldnt need two bards at Cointeaches, just one bard constantly dragging shit into camp to be killed. If you could get a good flow of mobs into camp, you could probably BLUburn the hell out of them and laugh at the spells getting stunned constantly.

    Tried out the Nue tower version of these in Beauc[S] and there were very very many of them, and with BLU/NIN+SAM/NIN we managed to get to Chain4 before I got hit once for 80 damage and it brought me into yellow and 14 of them started casting Thundaga III. I suspect with 4 people or so that this camp will be excellent, seeing as how in the time we were there I got 2700~ EXP in only like 6 kills and it just feels way too easy, until you get assraped.

    With these being such 'easy' mobs and having like, no TP moves etc, I don't wonder if they have some sort of other purpose, like built up hate etc type things. Be interesting to see moving forward. If not, well, that's just boring.

    Hahahaha, i felt the exact same way when I went there for the WOTG mission. Theres a TON of them and 2-3 Glacial Imps that could be great EXP fodder but so help you god if you catch HP agro there.... everything fucking agros and casts on you.

    I think that area could be a good camp (its close to the warp in) but you'd definitely need good pulls and a safe spot to camp.

    When I solo at the Nue tower on BLU I try to camp inside the tower down the stairs...I can usually avoid agro. I don't think there will be any build up like some sort of hate because they just have ridiculous low HP agro range from what I've seen and are always close together. Even though they do not link once you hit yellow, they will all come after you. I think that they would be more decent for a level 66-68 party.
