360 Macro = Death of Me

The six lines are absolutely ruining my Red Mage to the point where the game is more frustrating than fun. Is there anyway to avoid all of this nonsense? Any programs that can be run from my PC to the Xbox?

    P.S.
My laptop is old and won't run FFXI so please avoid giving me the advice of "Play on the PC durrrr."

    How about
    Get a new computer

You could always try the /macro book thing at the end of a macro but you'd have to ask someone else i've never messed w/ it

If your computer is unable to play a game that's 7 years old, I think answering with "buy a new computer" is justified.

Hey there. I play as a RDM on PS2, and before I knew about extended macros, it was tough. Make your equip macros somewhere in the first or second palette. (For example, mine is right trigger, set 2.)

Make the equip macro, and in the 6th slot, type /macro set 9 (for example)

    Example:
    /equip weapon "Terra's Staff"
/equip sub "Bugard Leather Strap +1"
    /equip ammo "Phantom Tathlum"
    /equip head "Warlock's Chapeau"
    /equip neck "Beak Necklace +1"
    /macro set 9

And this will take you to your 9th macro palette, instead of having to scroll from 2, all the way to 9. Where you would continue with:

    /equip ear1 "Magnetic Earring"
    /equip ear2 "Loquacious Earring"
    /equip body "Goliard Saio"
    /equip hands "Duelist's Gloves"
    /equip ring1 "Omega Ring"
    /macro set 10

Which will take you to macro set 10, and to finish:
    /equip ring2 "Serket Ring"
    /equip back "Cheviot Cape"
    /equip waist "Penitent's Rope"
    /equip legs "Warlock's Tights"
    /equip feet "Goliard Clogs"
/macro set 2(Not necessary, but advised. It's better then scrolling all the way back to two.)

This saves the time of scrolling through, from 2-9 in my case. The mechanics of this won't click the macro for you, but you'll click 2, gear swap, click 9, gear swap, click 10. This takes a matter of a two to three seconds at most.

I will advise you to place the second and third part of the macro lower in the set. (Like I have mine at 9 and 10). I was previously not using those sets, and it keeps them away from spell and ability macros. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

(Oh, and don't lol at my gear. I only dinged RDM 75 some short time ago.)
    I hope this helped!

Only problem with that setup is that you have to give the game time to actually go through the macros, or else if you spam the 3 too fast, you'll miss out on a couple pieces of gear. Better than nothing I guess. ;/

Huh? Yeah, kinda'. I think I'd actually have to try to push the button that fast though. I've never had the problem of having one skipped, or any pieces not go through.

And I'm glad this helped! Believe me, I was in the same boat not too long ago. Happy maging.

Pretty much anything better than an etch a sketch will play ffxi. I'd strongly recommend getting a pc that was made sometime after fred flintstone's time, even if it's just a crappy $200-300 system, it'll really be worth it, and not just for ffxi either.

The funny thing about FFXI is it requires very little from a computer when on minimum settings, but with things like drawdistance and double rendering available with the windower, it can be a handfull for even some of the latest PCs.

    @Rogan

Only problem is that the PS2 takes noticeable second or two to load a macro set / book. During that time, the game will stall, and i wouldn't recommend this in high lag situations.

The way i get around this on Bard/nin is by organizing the macro set in sequences. It takes one macro to equip yellow HP gear; the macro that equips singing gear is right next to the yellow HP gear macro; one more macro yet equip accessories if i'm not already in them, and that that macro is next to the singing gear macro. It's a lot of button pushing, but it avoids the game stalling.

Hm. That's never happened to me. That's not to say you're wrong, though. Like I said, I've only had RDM leveled a short time now. I've only been to Dynamis on it one time thus far, so as for high-lag situations, I haven't had much of those situations.

Either way, little-bit-'o'-lag or not, extended macros are the way to go if you're on XBOX or PS2. I can't say I wouldn't prefer playing on a PC though. (With a controller, of course.)

I ran into this with my TP & STR macros for Sam. All I did was put two TP macros next to each other, and two STR macros next to each other. I hit both macros for a given gear set every time I switch. It's tedious, but gets the job done.

Last year before Thanksgiving, Wal-Mart had a similar deal for a Compaq laptop priced at $298 (Presario CQ50). I bought it and it has worked like a champ ever since.

Of course though, I've just jinxed myself, and it'll die within the hour. :/

What I like about that Laptop is the number pad. I love playing FFXI with a full sized keyboard because I can never get used to playing in compact. XD

If macros re making you not enjoy the game because you only have 6 lines to work with I can't help but wonder how much you really enjoy FFXI?

Anyone that needs windower to play ffxi normally probably isn't a very good player. (Not trying to be insulting but... you do realize hundreds of thousands of people did just fine with 6 line macros way before windower or the 360 even existed right?)

You can make the same argument about people doing just fine before the automobile.
