    Mob Train Nerf?

I was training a bunch of mobs to AoE spam them for a fetch quest in MKD, and it seemed like I couldn't get any more than 5 mobs or so before they'd start despawning... This has never happened to me. I'm not sure if it's just some weird glitch, connection issues, or if it's an actual ninja nerf aimed at SMN burn. Can anyone else confirm despawning issues?

Mobs have always lost hate and despawned, nothing new.

mobs that dont track my scent will lose hate if you out run them long enough

let them "touch" you every 20 sec and you should be fine

only mobs that track bgy scent(eg. crawler) will chase you forever until you zone

Well, I remember being able to stand by the gate wear Boneeater spawns in Palborough Mines and casting on the quadavs in the next room, then they'd all train and find me in the next room, along with every quadav along the way. I tried last night and there were several, but all but 3 despawned in sight. I thought that was a little weird. Later, in Yughott Grotto, it happened to me again, trying to train orcs. However, there was a big difference here. I was only running them maybe 15 feet at most and all but 2-4 would despawn on me, every time.

Or until you cast Deoderize or run through water.

The only oddity in training that I've noticed isn't new. I regularly do crawler nest as smn by linking and training on an avatar, and from time to time it seems my judas goat(crawler) just seems to forget about all hate on the avatar, causing the avatar to automatically turn and smack the judas goat(crawler). From that point on, no matter how much damage the avatar does to the "goat", if I Retreat the mob immediately comes for me, causing avatar to autoattack again.

It's really weird, but by no means is what I've seen new either.

Or cast deodorize or walk into water or if it is raining(I think that's it.)

Earth weather (and I think any type of weather, but I haven't tested) makes scent tracking mobs behave like non tracking mobs. Also, to nitpick a bit more, running through water doesn't stop a tracking mob from chasing you. The mob itself has to run through/touch water in order for it to deaggro. Also at the time of touching water it has to be unable to detect you in any other way it normally would (sight/sound).

If mobs track by scent you can lose aggro by running through water.

Has anyone noticed in some areas that upon pulling a mob, it will take a remarkably large circle to get at you, on an open field to so it isnt even dodging stuff, then stop 5 feet away and despawn.

This seems to be really happening a lot to me in marshlands_s when I was killing rabbits with my npc for fun.

I even managed to find a point that mobs just suddenly winked out of existence upon moving over, and to test pulled like 5. Lo and behold all 5 of em stopped moving in the little area and instantly despawned.

This isn't just a loss of hate despawn either, as #1 they're within attack range of me and #2 they dont put away weapons, they simply stop and fade away, kind of like when you lag out in dyna and the mob dies, but stays standing for 30 secs and just dissapears after everyone moves onto next one...

Very strange, but kinda annoying since I am trying to kill these mobs. On the other hand kinda useful cause if I end up getting a close call I just run through one of the spots and despawn the mob, but honestly I could do that anyway by despawning the mob with chocobo jig...

I'll try and get a screeen cap or something for you all, but I'll need to find one of the spots..

I second this, and believe it to be true for any type of weather.

I know that Ice weather also works, really easy to aggro and deaggro taurus while climbing ulle, but if weather isn't up, that shit never stops chasing you.

I heard that if you run through water, scent-tracking mobs lose your trail. Is this true?

So I have a question. Let me set it up first.

Hide fails when you use it against a mob that has a method of tracking you that is NOT sight/sound. For example, you can aggro a skeleton, then use Hide (while it is at point-blank range) and you will shed hate... unless you are in <= yellow HP, in which case it can still detect you by HP, and Hide will fail.

Crawlers detect by scent, making it impossible to Hide from them (under normal conditions). Crawlers will lose aggro if you are far enough away and you cross a body of water (among other things), but will follow you indefinitely otherwise.

Crabs purportedly do not detect by scent, so if you aggro one and get far enough away, it will eventually lose interest. Crabs are indifferent to bodies of water (among other things); their tracking is not affected by them. However, Hide doesn't work on crabs. Why?
