This seems to be really happening a lot to me in marshlands_s when I was killing rabbits with my npc for fun.

I even managed to find a point that mobs just suddenly winked out of existence upon moving over, and to test pulled like 5. Lo and behold all 5 of em stopped moving in the little area and instantly despawned.

This isn't just a loss of hate despawn either, as #1 they're within attack range of me and #2 they dont put away weapons, they simply stop and fade away, kind of like when you lag out in dyna and the mob dies, but stays standing for 30 secs and just dissapears after everyone moves onto next one...

Very strange, but kinda annoying since I am trying to kill these mobs. On the other hand kinda useful cause if I end up getting a close call I just run through one of the spots and despawn the mob, but honestly I could do that anyway by despawning the mob with chocobo jig...

I'll try and get a screeen cap or something for you all, but I'll need to find one of the spots..

Orcs track by scent, which makes it very easy to aga a pack down when doing Splitting Heirs. Sleep one Orc at the area near the NM closest to the BC gate then run back. Wait for the pack to come and spam Sleepgas till they all come. Gravityga and run back. Time nuke agas for the stone!

I'm quite positive Hide has never worked on any mob that detects by sound. Maybe if you're out of sound range. I haven't tested that, but I'm doubtful.

I've used Hide to shed aggro on crabs before. I've always had to flee > Monami (or oil) > Hide to get it to work though.

Works on Aquarius, that's for sure.

    2004 tests go!

Cannot Hide from crabs, even outside of sound range:

Can Hide from undead that is in sound range...

...but they will reaggro you if you don't quickly move out of sound range:

There are a bunch more, too:

    Spoiler: show

For this one, I didn't use Deodorizer, but in retrospect (and knowing what we know now), I'm certain that I ran over a stream and lost it (wide scan tracking clearly points across the stream in plain view):

And this is what happens when you use Hide on a mob that is still tracking you by scent, but is out of view:

Note the lack of "<me> tries to hide, but is spotted by <t>" failure message, and the lack of invisibility.

Key part being that you used oils. Deoderize + hide works on orcs too.

Orcs track by scent and can be hidden from if it's raining. Tested in Davoi.
