    Bricked Sony NWZ-S639F MP3 Player?

    Hi all,

I've spent a fuck-ton of time trying to find an answer to my question, but to no avail.

I think i might have bricked my Mp3 player. It's only just over a year old. After connecting it via USB to my PC lastnight to charge to battery to full, i brought it to work today and it will no longer boot up. I've tried resetting the system itself but that didn't seem to work.

I had a power outage lastnight just as i was about to remove the player from the USB slot so i'm guessing that probably has something to do with it. Next step is to wait until i get home and attach the USB connection again to see if that works.

Any other advice would be great as it's the only thing at work that drowns out the constant droning of my co-workers...

I'm not familiar with that model, but is there a way for you to go and pull the battery?

It's possible that it got fried though, in which case you're SOL.

There are only 2 small screws at the back of the player. I took them out and tried to pull the back off but the plastic covering is glued to the board itself, so there is no chance i can access the battery.

I'll have to wait until i get home and try plugging it back into the USB port, maybe it just hung when the power went out and still thinks it powering from the USB port instead of from the battery.

what exactly does not boot up mean? is it hanging during the process of starting, or just not powering on at all?

If yours has a micro micro SD expansion port put a stick in there and it may turn on. if it turns on go into menu and reformat. i fixed a few of my friends mp3 palyers that did the same thing including my own.

It wasn't booting up at all. Just got it home and plugged it back into the USB port and removed the hardware from the taskbar and it seems to be working fine now. Very odd :/
