You can get a resist on ES nuke on a normal mob. Frustrating as hell - it happens once to you and you'll remember it for a long long time. It's certainly not 5% resist chance though - much lower but it does happen. Also, mobs with resist traits can still easily resist ES enfeebles. For instance, Elemental Seal Sleep still resists quite frequently on PLD type mobs (e.g. dynamis, aerns), ES gravity on THF mobs, etc. Someone already mentioned Logi in Einherjar as well.

To be fair, we don't actually know what Elemental Seal does in terms of MACC, because we don't really have a solid foundation on how MACC works in general. We can tell you pretty much if X piece of gear beats Y piece of gear, but it's very very difficult to tell you how it works in terms of an actual formula like a melee version. So any response you get regarding "how ES actually works" is going to be giving you anecdotal evidence at best.

About capped Focalization: it's +25 MACC, so it will add somewhere between 12.5% and 25% added chance to land a spell for full effect. I have no idea what Klimaform's bonus would be, but I would take a wild guess and say if you stack the 2, you're just turning your SCH into a decked RDM in terms of enfeeble skill. You're not breaking any barriers or anything like Elemental Seal would. Elemental Seal is seen as an essential tool in a number of strategies (solo ENM brothers, BRD/BLM Elegy, to name a few) - whatever it does, you can't compare it to anything else in the game.

    Just my 2 cents.

I saw your picture, and it's completely moot. Did you not notice 2 other people casted Freeze before you? Casting ancient magic alters the target's elemental resistances, it's even in the spell description.

Except it was only 1 cast before hand, and casting AM doesn't increase resistance to elements, it only decreases the resistance to a different element. I don't think 1 Freeze is going to warrant the phrase "repeated exposure of an element".

I know it's hard to back down from an argument, especially when you were so sure to begin with, but trust me you won't win this one Ultimagi. The fact that you can be resisted by normal mobs on ES is like overwhelmingly accepted to be true. It only takes 1 screenshot or example to show something isn't 100% accurate - it's just very easy to debunk.

That picture is confusing, but it is not enough for me be completely convinced. Also Resist Sleep and such was already considered by Ultimagi to still take effect on ES casts.

With respect, are you a little slow? Chain nuking, a target will only take a % damage cut if that target is a Notorious Monster nothing more... nothing less.

Well the argument started with Enfeebling Magic, I don't even know where Elemental Magic came into it.

Resist Traits are irrelevant, anyone should know that a resist trait is simply a % chance to get that in the chat log and the spell to not take effect on the monster, magical acc plays absolutely no role in whether a nuke hits a resist trait or not.

So now you think ES is different for enfeebling and elemental... awkward.

    Exactly?

EDIT: I wasn't replying to the nuke.

The argument was about ES. ES enhances the accuracy of your next spell. I don't see where this is limited to Enfeebling Magic.

    You will.

Also, my level 42 NIN can land a spell on a level 80 mob (imp) with elemental seal. Those imp resist sleep (not a trait, just high magic eva). A rdm with excellent gear will land full duration sleep on them 30% of the time only, which means you need ~450 TOTAL magic accuracy to cap. This also means obviously ES > 450 magic acc.

About the magic accuracy cap. There is a lower and an upper cap, it definitely around 95% for the upper cap.

sorry but not sure where you got that info from. Rapid use of magic will increase resistance but, using the same element over long periods of time doesnt change its resistance whatsoever.

How do we know that enemies don't have some small elemental resistances to elemental magic?

Are there test results for this somewhere out there? Can I be linked?

It was an assumption, considering that's what Elemental Seal is used for 90% of the time.

they do, which is why you generally don't nuke mobs with the element they're strong to, like nuking a Fire Elemental with Flare? not really a good idea, likewise things like Wild hares have innate resistance to Earth Magic.

But that really doesn't hold basis for that picture above considering those Wyverns are wind magic resistant and he nuked with Freeze, which the mob should be weak to and got resisted.

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean. It doesn't matter if a mob has a damage cut to a certain element, higher resistance to a certain element.. nothing, it is just a simple fact that ES does not take you to 100% land rate on everything, if anything.

Show me a screenshot of Elemental Seal Sleep resisting on anything that isn't resistant to Sleep.
