I agree, but I think their complaint is that the rules were recently changed to prevent mods (specifically aurik) from handing out unwarranted infractions/bans, and just 2 weeks later he's doing it again under the new rules? Personally I don't care, but I don't think people would be considering doing something like abusing the report button if they felt like their past complaints about mods have been listened to/resolved.

If you have a problem with what someone interprets as a post worthy of an infraction, you should take it up with him instead of applying his assumed logic to every post on the boards.

and that's the problem. the fact that there are no hard rules at all allows dumb things to happen. quite simply, it's pure bullshit that the judgment to be made isn't whether or not it's "leaky spam," but rather who is posting the leaky spam. let's be honest with ourselves for a minute: that was a spammy post. that's a perfect example of exactly the kind of post that so many people are annoyed by and complain about when the topic comes up. people have been infracted for the same, but unless i'm reading it wrong, you think i'm the one who's being shitty for reporting spam behavior outside of spam.

Single word responses that do not add any legitimacy to a topic. Responses must be valid and on topic or an infraction or ban might be issued on a case by case basis.

nah; i know why he does it. he bends the rules as he pleases to get a rise out of the posters here because it amuses him. that's not information that needs to be explained to anyone here. if you actually try to apply his logic to other posts, it gets ripped apart. does that not say anything about the quality of his judgment? i'm not even angry at aurik; he's a troll, who cares? i'm annoyed that this keeps coming up over and over and over and nothing substantial is ever done about it.

Yeah but I mean, the rules are still subject to interpretation. It isn't black and white where a computer can look at each post and decide if it's against the rules or not. Again, I'm not saying that you're not wrong, just saying there are better ways to protest it.
