I always pronouce Kirin as Kee-lin, because Qilin is what kirin is based upon!
But my Salvage static group will always and forever laugh at the way I pronouce Humilus cell... Because to me its a hache-pee cell :D

My einherjar group was debating how to say "Hazhalm Testing Grounds" we came out with calling it the House Of Ham Testing grounds (well a few of us did coughYuglcough). But really how do we say Hazhalm? Ha-zal-lm? :S
I just say Hazlam >_> thats what it should be!! Also the guy form the intro movie says Bastoook, not bast-toe >_>
I always say Haz-halm.
Like lolcats trying to say "have helm"
I'm horrible at pronouncing stuff. I usually just make up my own pronunciation that doesn't even sound like how everyone on my Vent says it. For Pso'Xja, I end up pronouncing it Sow(like a female pig)-Jah.
Lol, this thread reminds me of my friend Tang. He's cuban and has sort of an accent (not a heavy one mind you) but on Ventrilo he pronounces Anticans like "An-Tish-Ens", lol.
And Kray-ken club XD
Places I can't be bothered to pronounce
Temple of Ugly Pie
Morphing-time Mountains
Fort Kangaroo
La Vowel
Inner/Outter Hotter Taru Ruins
Boston Omelet
Chateau Doorknob
Is "zh" really so difficult for some people to pronounce? I know it's not a native phoneme to English, but it's not really that hard...It's close enough to a soft g that it shouldn't be too hard.
As for the sea mobs...
Aern - airn
Euvhi - yoo-vee
Hpemde - hpem-day (voiced h before a hard p)
Phuabo - fwa-boh
Xzomit - zo-mit
Yovra - yo-vra (people pronounce this differently?)
Ghrah - gra
Zdei - zday
As for the words that have an obvious language to them, I always try to pronounce it in that language.
As for the OP...thun-DAH-ga, fie-RAH-ga, STONE-ga (which is wrong), SO-zha, uh (from Brooklyn, sue me)-RAH-pa-go
According to the japanese pronunciation guide on wiki, JP confirms the intro video: Bastok is really pronounced bass-TUKE.
バストゥーク
basutuuku
Is there some sort of Germanic precedence for -tok sounding like "tuke"? As an earlier poster said, many of the Bastok areas seem to have a German flavor.
Euvhi - U V
I cry whenever anyone on Vent pronounces pretty much anything.
Chateau d'Oraguille - Shah-toe Doh-rah-Gee (the g as in gold)
La Vaule - Lah Vole
It's Fee-rah-gah
Temple of Ugly Leopards. (even though toramas/coeurls are actually one of the most beautiful mobs in all of final fantasy IMO)
"zh" sound is just like "sh" only with a z instead of s, so it's harder (like the g which was mentioned above). Very normal phonetic in the middle east.
"ieux" from Bostaunieux is like "yew" minus the w, so it's going to be boh-stow-new. And Beadeaux is beh-doh.
since many languages pronounce "x" as an "sh" sound, and many others pronounce "j" as a "y" sound, i always just pronounced Pso-xja as so-shya myself <shrug>.
The one i always have a hard time wrapping my head around is einherjar. I know it's pronounced ain-her-yar, but for some reason my mental voice always pronounces that j as hard lol.
