drag and drop UIalso that ether portal seems interesting. after killing all the puks for the quest, the portal opens and he can choose to port home. doing that nets him full mp/hp and the reward for the quest.

Mi'qote really don't look right without the noses.
i like how the terrain doesnt consist of tiles with textures. looks like the grass is physical and is swaying back and forth. lots of hills too, so lots of interaction between the avatar and the terrain - very realistic.
its shaping up to be more seamless an experience then any other MMO, considering most MMOs go for the cartoony look with bright bright colors.
the HD animation emote video also shows off how UN-anime the character models look. the galka is the best example. i like how they are bringing a more western feel to the look
the drag and drop UI is fantastic. overall the graphics are amazing.
FF11 Draw Distance was really limited "crapy distance view"

At 1:14 in this vid Final Fantasy XIV Online Video Game, GC 09: Lalafell Gameplay (Cam) HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com the announcer says, the mage is a Druid.
Staring at that picture for a few minutes. It sorta reminds me of Riverne Site A&B. Lol.
It could just be a panorama that isn't accessible at all, but that'd be a pretty dastardly thing to do!
This distance seems abit 2D and they only seem to move by looking forward, it doesn't look very fluent. But all in all it looks pretty nice.
Tanaka and Sundi are going to give interviews today. Don't know if these are 1 on 1 (well... 1 on 2) interviews or if it's a common one like the FF11 Fan Festival where all the Premier Sites were together. Anyway, that French website, JeuxOnline, which was "Premier site" for FF11 is going to participate to it, if there are any new useful infos, be sure that I'll translate it as soon as I can.
edit: well ... as I'm into it, I'll add a few things about the alpha version since JeuxOnline tested it and already posted a few things. Please forgive me if there are weird words, but I'll do my best:
He doesn't say which race/job he's been playing for now, and doesn't publish any screenshots yet since they're waiting on SE's approval to do so. There's nothing really new here but it's always interesting to know the point of view of someone who tested it. No doubt they will do a more precise report once they can post pictures. The first feeling is that we're quite slapped in the face: that looks very nice, it's shinny, it's moving really smoothly, every details are animated. Only downside I can see is that "horizon line" is too much visible. There is a blurry zone between the horizon and the direct environment of the character, and it's quite ugly.
Now let's move. Nothing really complicated or different on this side, our low-levels character were moving smoothly, but I found that they were kinda slow: it looked like after doing 2 steps, they'd be only 1 step ahead (the translation here needs some work).
The UI has been completely changed, as compared to FF11, but is not definitive. An action bar (like in most of MMOs) is displayed on the bottom of the screen, while compass/HP/MP/TP bar are on bottom-right side, along with the "target line".
As predicted, we were able to accomplish a quest corresponding to a "guildleve" (these cards things). Three different where submitted, depending on when you're able to play the demo. Our card was an annihilation quest, requesting to kill a few enemies in a particular zone (aka FedEx quest).
Sadly times goes fast and it's already time for me to leave. I now have to go to meet M.Tanaka and M.Sundi for an interview...
Bercusbitchfest: I like the style of F 11 more >.<
http://i32.tinypic.com/2nb7cpv.png looks N64 Mario colorish.
Alpha I know, I know. I am excited and scpetic though.
I'm interest to know if the characters can swim or not
SE should release epic trailer instead of letting people watch those low quality videos

"Tips: Use the compass on your search for those sqiurrels. The squirrels appear at point A. When there's only one squirrel left, it's fleeing to point B. Chase the squirrel to point B!"
Squirrel chasing eh. lol. So far it seems we're having more 'normal' enemies.
At this point, looking at the gameplay videos and how characters move, I speculate that there will be no swimming (and gladly no pointless jumping).
I don't like the Teletubby-style of the new Tarus though. Their bodys look like a pear on two sticks, proportions seem to be odd. Head and legs too small, hips way too fat. I can't really shake off that from-cute-to-creepy feeling. Gonna play around a lot with character customization when this comes out, but i already don't see me picking Taru again.
