Take a level 75 SAM and go fight a level 20 Yagudo in Tahrongi canyon. Will still take 2 hits to kill it(90% the first hit, then another to finish it off, usually).

FFXI doesn't have exponential damage like WoW or anything like that.

Not 100%, but check Bercus's thread. I think it's mentioned that it's heavily dependent on the gear.

@xopher -- unless you WS it.

Well 1 fact still stands, at higher levels we'll be able to do a lot more damage than we were able to do in FFXI.

Also anyone else noticed that the Dodo and Puk look like mobs from SO4? Namely those chubby Peryton mobs.

How much damage was the Gladiator doing with regular attacks? I didn't really notice that too well. I did like how they looked though. The helm was really cool.

That SS reminds me of PSO for some reason. The fields and the open feeling of the map just give me that warm feeling of needing more Trimates before I get pwnd on my Force. Also, the more they show the more i'm interested. I really think they've actually learned from FFXI, but if they screw up even the slightest they'll lose some of their FFXI-to-FFXIV base pretty fast. >.<

    300-450ish

Edit: Just saw the emote videos. Wow the level of detail is mad high lol. Look at the character's faces when they do things like /thumbsup. Very anime-like expressions.

The SS of the large map? As long as it's way more explorable (crossing over small hills/mountains, and not having to walk a determined path) than PSO, then I'll be fine. PSO looks okay, but lacked an explorable feeling. Episode 4 sort of made up for it, but the level selection (CRATER TIME) was lousy. Also, lol @ getting pwned on the Force. Poor Force.

Anyway, I think they have learned a little bit from FFXI (the UI, the chat area, etc), but I'm sure they'll still screw up somehow. I don't think it'd scare people away. It's all a learning experience.

I wonder if ffxiv will allow customizable ui/addons like wow does, so people may better customize how they want the game to appear for ease of playability etc or make various things easier that may seem repetitive.

Some may like the old ffxi ui and could add that in etc type deal

One of the Gametrailer movies shows the Taru moving the HP/MP/TP bar ever so slightly with the mouse (Dont know if this has been mentioned yet)

But that has me pretty excited nonetheless

They already screwed up Lalafell design and scared away the former Taru players to picking other races.

Please, if anyone is yet to go try and bring up the equipment screen and let us know what is on the Weapons/armor and what slots are available

Yea, what I mean is if they repeat any of the things that annoyed the playerbase in FFXI (non-instanced situations, etc) I think it would irritate those who had hoped SE would have learned from the previous experience. I would say things like fully utilizing Stats for your character would be nice, as well as being able to physically see the stats. (Refers to Septs frontpage on the amazing UI of FFXI hehe)

I think it will turn out well if the samples from their press conf are anything to base that on.

...and laugh all you want but you know everyone wanted Shifta back in the day. >_>; After I finished my FOnewm I went straight to HUcast, fuck not being able to solo.

OH that reminds me. Was there any announcement regarding the expected party sizes for content? I remember them mentioning they were focusing on low man content? or something?

Rather curious about equipment and such, too.

Dodos reminded me of the Cockatrice and such from XII.

Far as the dude in the white outfit with the feathered cap in one of the earlier posted images, I'd lean toward Bard if they're actually using some kind of specific class system like with the Ranger and such.

I'm going to have to dig out my FFXII disc and play some of that this weekend. I am getting the uneasy feeling that armor's look will be fixed by job., meaning you change weapon your gear changes to match the job you're on, I really hope that isn't the case.

Looking forward to the interview but all the info out so far is great. Just curious but in the videos am I hearing music from the game (specifically battle music)? It's pretty noisy in the background so it's hard to tell exactly.

Man... We need someone to run off the map. Well um actually in that one video with the taru running around; they didnt have to zone out to leave the area and go out into the world. Then again... it was a really small town. Could be a good thing?

Edit: Anyone noticed the 8 directional movement?

From what I could get from the French website that participated to the interview session, they pretty much evaded everything which was related to armoury system or features. From what he said, he was the only "MMO specialist" in the room, asking real questions. Other journalists asked more global questions like "why did you choose the PS3 for the launch?". Let's hope someone has been luckier (more lucky?), or that they keep such infos for the presentation on saturday.
