If durability is implemented like in WoW/Vanguard, it can go to hell. If it's like in Neocron where you have to find a crafter that repairs your stuff, this might be interesting...

Betting it's gonna be like RO, an NPC or player with the right class (Blacksmith?) will be able to fix it/enhance it. I doubt it's going to be so flimsy that it'll break after a few battles.

It can be one of your very own skills. PTs are going to look for someone with good craft skills, just in case...

I'll bet smiths will be at a premium for endgame.

making it dependent on players (smith class) makes economy more difficult. this should not be a subject of price-negotiation like craft-requests in ff11.

i think a mixture between npcs and players is a decent system. so you can have the smith npcs in the cities and outposts, and on the fields you can ask players.

wow was ok. didn't cost much money. with the exception of new difficult instances, where i had 80-150 gold each time (as a elemental shaman). NPC-repair only is boring though.

I'm gonna guess that smithers will be able to repair swords, shields and things of the like. Woodworker will be able to repair staves and things along that line. Just a guess tho.

That interview was a lot more revealing than I thought it would be.

The news about a seamless world is great. I'm happy that they're going to balance for PvE and PvP will be a side-game at best. I'm sort of glad that jumping isn't in the game, but didn't really fell strongly about it either way. Macros are confirmed so people can stop whining about that.

Seamless world and "Raid" content. zomg I don't like that all the guildleves are instanced. Should act like normal quests; least when it comes to "lol go thar and kill X amount of Ys";/

I really hope theres a good balance of raids/world encounters.

That tweet about FFXIV Beta from last week is looking to be more and more true as time goes on. :O

    eh....

If we HAVE to have equipment wear, there's inevitably going to be something to complain about. If I have to find a person with a specific skill set to fix my high-grade crap, then it's just as annoying to deal with as having to find an NPC (and both might charge you).

Now, if the crafting subset every player is allowed can be specialized to repair your own equipment set (and/or create new pieces), then it'll just be an issue of having a stock of materials and tools to do it, which actually would be nice in a way.

In any case, weapon deteriation in most forms is put in place to have an ever-present money sink. The devs might believe that instituting a resource drain that everyone has to deal with might be preferable to some of the old economic checks & balances. It might be easier to have an NPC-driven economy that way, I dunno.

At any rate, the only game I've played where weapon repair was actually not only acceptable to me, but engaging was Vagrant Story (which isn't an MMO). I'd prefer to not deal with it, but I doubt it'll be so much of an issue that it could ruin the game, so I'll just do it.

    somekind of, yeah.
but i think it sucks. in all those videos -_-

    Kurokikaze:
well. you do not want the scenario where you try to kill 3 puks (for the guildleve) the very first day, but it takes you 5 hrs because the areas are crowded by other players who steal away the mobs right infront of your eyes
guildleve in instance is fine, i think.

remember Genkai 1, where you have to find the papyrus? lowwwwww drop rate and 100 others competing.. sucked ^^

No. Imagine a server-known ninjalootwhore requiring repair services...

But then, on NPC repairs only, it's just an annoying time and money sink. Just increase chocobo rent prices or any other money sink instead.

If it's player-driven, stuff shouldn't detoriate too quickly, though.

As far as the music goes, I think it's just a BIT hard to be able to tell what the hell the music sounds like considering everything going on in a convention room, lol

Haha I suppose you do have a point.

Edit: Forgot this - Hell yes for voiceovers not only during mission cutscenes but for NPCs (Probably means like a standard "HOW YA DOIN MATE?!" still cool though)

I'll guess that costs and rewards will have to be negotiated as part of the PT setup. Say as a fraction of the original cost of the weapon, or a flat fee. Maybe you can post "reasonable and customary" charges like a bazaar.
