Very interesting. It sounds like SE is trying to leap-frog Blizzard here. There has been a lot of talk by the Blues about trying to make the game less "button-pushy" and more "reactive button-pushy". This sounds like what SE are at least partially aiming for here. Also, it sounds like it has flavors from the FFXII combat system also.
Ringthree, as much as I love the PvE nature of Final Fantasy XI, I would like a half-way decent PvP system to be implemented that actually entices people to play it (Ballista is still fun in all of its broken glory.) Chances are, if they don't implement a PvP system at the same time the game is released, it might just end up being another haphazard version of Ballista.
is jumping confirmed? sorry if this issue was noted.
The ultimate tank! lawls :D
If you're able to put macros on the hotkeys then this will be good and bad.
Good: You can put an entire rotation on 1 hotkey.
Bad: Game will focus solely around spamming that one cookie cutter macro/hotkey.
Edit for post above this one: They said no jumping.
Dear god. Those new pictures of class outfits are so bland and ugly. The whole burlap-sack medieval look is a huge turnoff for me. I really hope that is the 14 equivalent of low level crummy looking lizard or raptor gear that ultimately won't matter much.

Also since there's no pet "class" yet that picture of the living doll/mammet/automoton thing is probably just an enemy, so don't spray your automaton oil all over your keyboards yet kids.
Why do people even want jumping? It's not like it'll help you get around faster. S-E designs games intending for you to take time to get from one place to another. If you have jumping, they'll just add ledges you can't jump over.
That's what it sounds like, although they also mentioned there will be macros, but they are not implemented yet.
You realize they put that shit there BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO HAVE TO GO AROUND. Adding jumping defeats their game design.
Would it be more convenient? Yeah obviously, but FF is not about convenience (/sarcasm).
