They kind of look like the Shadow Dragon-type mobs, and they're called Puks, so within the context of FFXI I'd say they would likely be classified as dragons.

I think it's jumping to conclusions to assume that FFXIV will have the same mob ecosystem, if it has one at all.

I simply stated that "i'm probably a better player than most of the people on this forum" to make a point. I never said that i'm a better player than most of the people on this forum which "would" be placing my gaming skill above the majority of the people here. I didn't judge anyone with my post so that comment is worthless. Let me rephrase my "stupid people" comment so it can be understood better: judging someone to be a "bad player" and a person that never played FFXI (or someone that never played the previous installment of that game) with absolutely no information as to the history of that person makes the original poster and anyone who agrees with that original poster "stupid."

lol@ People judging other posters by join date.

Hay guise, I've been whacking it to zoomed in Lizard Jerkins on Hume F for THREE more years than you have, so I'll point that out and people will laugh with me and respect me more.

    Naut

On another note, if it's really this ability queue system that's going around, it'd be really sweet if later on, mages could like..

Queue up Quake IV, and Fire IV, and combo that together to cast Meteor or some shit, Fire and Earth damage, would be kinda cool imho.

Edit: Says the August 09 poster

Derail: While I don't think judging people solely on join date is particularly smart, acting like a smart ass about it isn't gonna help at all <_<

Rerail: Yeah that would be cool, or something like FF:Crystal Chronicles where 2 mages could use the same spell to get something stronger o: would have to be only in certain situations though (skillchain~esque) otherwise it'd just get frustrating to kill stuff, lol

My opinion about international servers, I being someone who doesn't know how to speak/write Japanese, is J players are only a problem if teamwork is very important. I'm totally fine with having them in XP/merit parties, since most of them are good at the game. But, if you have someone who can't comprehend the strategy for a very tough fight, where we keep dying endlessly because he/she doesn't understand, it gets nerve wrecking inventing complex auto-translate sentences that translate to run in a circle and do this and this etc. . Still, that isn't the worst case. I find the worst situation to be a japanese n00b in Qufim who doesn't know an ounce of English, and there are no others LFG. You know what I mean, when everyone is doing their job in the party, but the Japanese guy doesn't know how to and will not tank properly know matter what you say about {macro}s for CRYING OUT LOUD ! I even had a bilingual in a party and the J guy still didn't get it. It's just as bad in bird merit parties where a J BRD doesn't know how to pull more than one bird and won't change his pulling no matter how you tell him... /SIGH *boots J brd who won't listen*. I know he's not listening because I've had n00b J BRDs change the way they pull after I used auto translate or whatever method to make it clear.

I remember reading about some issue with the Japanese about people /checking, but I don't really care about that that much. Examining someone means I think they're worth checking out, even if it offends them lmao. I appreciate Japanese who took the time to learn English and/or know how to play the game. I don't have a problem with Japanese on the same server b/c I love watching their anime and appreciate their culture.

I don't see the JP/Eng thing being as much of a problem this time around. When FFXI launched stateside the JP had an entire expansion before we even started. Having everyone start at the same time will make a difference.

That has nothing to do with the segregation that went on between Japanese and English speaking players. Even after English speaking players had long since 'caught up' to the Japanese speaking players on my server, there were still 'JP Only' sentiments and a general lack of interaction between the communities. Hell, my linkshell started HNMs seriously before the JP on my server and they still wanted to be elitist as our paladins were in full Koenig, red mages and bards in dalamaticas, etc. in 2006. Sure, there was a crafter or two who would bridge the gap but you had to know it was only because they wanted to make more money. The point is, even without the gap in time and skill, the communication will probably always be an annoyance more than a natural part of the game and so we are going to end up partying and creating linkshells of players who speak the same language. These are just facts, really. I think people want to live in a fantasy world where we magically all get along, personally if everybody was on the same page as far as communication goes, I only see benefits. There are no true benefits from mixing languages on servers, only hinderances, and preemptively: No, making a magical new friend is not a benefit.

That's because JPs loves to play FFXI in a RPG style, while others just want the itamz and the dramas.

On FFXIV will be the same, JPs will enjoin the story and the lore of the game, while others will find the better ways to get fast money, items and be the best of the bests in a pixel game.

That's why JPs was in a "JP Onry" mode always, since USA release there was more RMTing and Bots, slowly destroying the game... EU version just finished what USA started, RMTs everywhere because ppl was buying gils every day, Bots even in a weak NM's etc.

Don't blame JPs, they just play a MMORPG, while others just plays a MMO, it's very different.

That's totally not true. Just like there are non-jp people that like to enjoy the games story/lore etc., there are japanese hardcore players that just push forward as much as possible. One of the most hardcore players and RMTer here for example is jp. Plus, jp are elitist bastard more than other nations too. They would camp HNM even while they are capped on items only because they didn't want gaijins to get anything. Don't give japanese more credit than they deserve.

Well... sorry, maybe that's on your server =S I don't have any experience in other servers, maybe you had a different vision in your...

And yes, I saw some JP HNMLS camp something over 10h, that's right...

Desire for items or money isn't limited to NAs, some people are just wired that way. Generally I disagree with Maguspk about segregation, but it's such a tired topic (like jumping - but that one always gets me) that I won't bother trying to refute it.

I do agree with him about Aug 2009 posters. Jesus... But it's also those who've had accounts here for ages yet only post because of FFXIV. Different breed, same animal.

You better be Japanese, because auto-fellatio is the only acceptable explanation for your gobbling. You act like they are all perfect players, you most definitely did not interact with them in end game. Japanese players constantly tried to MPK us when we were keeping Fafnir in our time zone by letting it stay unclaimed until 6pm, does this surprise you and your child-like worship of the JP players? lol

It is amazing how much bullshit can be found here.

    lol.

Please, shut the fuck up. Take this to another thread at least. Maybe it has something to do with Chocobo speculation.

EDIT: And "Aug 2009ers" continually show justification for prejudice.

Desire for items is whats KEEPing most ppl playing
who didnt finish Rank missions and CoP/ZM etc missions ? but you still play to get more and better items
actually.. you wouldnt finish CoP/ZM if it didnt grant you access to 'areas-with-items' lol

but in FFXIV we dont know yet if weapons are only to set your class, or do they also have stats (i wouldnt like to have 2 Swords if they'll give me the same class)
hope the wpns are upgradeable only

I'm just speculating, but I think the weapon will largely determine what set of skills you get. The other pieces of armor you can equip will (I'm guessing) depend on your class title from the 10 skills you have selected, pretty much like FFXI armor only specific jobs can wear. There's probably going to be gear swapping to enhance your WS/spells/accuracy. I think it's highly possible because they did say they're adding macros, and the macros will probably be way more useful for gear swapping than they were in FFXI. Who knows? Maybe they would be generous enough to add a pseudo spellcast interface for the skill hotkey or macros? Also, they said you can only switch your weapon in-between battles, so it seems logical they'd at least let you swap other gear for more variety of gameplay. In one of the interviews, they said you can only swap the weapon only in-between battles. This just makes it only convenient for job switches and soloing without running back and forth to a mog house.

I don't really see the point of macros, unless they're going to have you button spamming moves and doing rotations constantly like in WoW. FFXIV doesn't look like a constant button masher to that scale, and you are limited to those 10 skills on your hotbar, so I think macros would be for gear swaps and notifications. I bet a class would come with some job abilities which would add more reasons for macros, if there were no gear swaps. Still, I do not doubt gear swaps will be in the game.

note: people had their brains before their join date, so its not a way to judge them/what theyr saying

I don't really like this type of answers, I didn't insult you (I think) so I won't answer your crap until you show some respect. Anyways, your quote is the best example of what I was talking about, thanks.

    And no, i'm not JP.
