That has nothing to do with the segregation that went on between Japanese and English speaking players. Even after English speaking players had long since 'caught up' to the Japanese speaking players on my server, there were still 'JP Only' sentiments and a general lack of interaction between the communities. Hell, my linkshell started HNMs seriously before the JP on my server and they still wanted to be elitist as our paladins were in full Koenig, red mages and bards in dalamaticas, etc. in 2006. Sure, there was a crafter or two who would bridge the gap but you had to know it was only because they wanted to make more money. The point is, even without the gap in time and skill, the communication will probably always be an annoyance more than a natural part of the game and so we are going to end up partying and creating linkshells of players who speak the same language. These are just facts, really. I think people want to live in a fantasy world where we magically all get along, personally if everybody was on the same page as far as communication goes, I only see benefits. There are no true benefits from mixing languages on servers, only hinderances, and preemptively: No, making a magical new friend is not a benefit.
