i realized this was coming, but just saying. any time you assert an opinion without making it sound all weak by saying "um, well, i uh, i think, that is to say my belief is, not that it's necessarily the superior belief just that it's different from yours but uh my standpoint..." people get sand all in their little internet argument pussies. apparently not being apologetic and cowed and polite to a fault is offensive in the PC age. new rule: any time we must disagree we will all talk to our shoes and avoid eye contact so as not to make anyone else feel unsubstantial via intimidating eye contact!

but yeah i would personally think that star wars theme being played at a wedding is stupid. that said, it really doesn't matter what i think or even what the people attending think. the ceremony is for you. shit, you're probably paying for it. the point is to make the day memorable and enjoyable for yourself, and if other people have a good time at the afterparty then cool. if not, fuck them. they can dictate shit at their own wedding.

Wanted to clarify that it won't be the star wars theme, I haven't decided which but more likely one of the interlude-types from one of the movies(aka leia's theme). More than likely, those that know star wars well enough will catch it and find it fun, whereas those that don't care too much about star wars, will not even know what it is.


And ya I agree whole heartily. I ask people for advice sometimes when I don't know what to choose, but ultimately, I'm shelling the money for it, and when I watch the video 50 years from now I wanna smile knowing I had a good time, rather than regret I didn't get the wedding I wanted. So idc if people don't like the star wars idea.

"xyz person is a pussy" is clearly an opinion and not incontrovertible fact, but if you don't lead off with "i think that" or "i'm of the opinion" then people get all up in arms about it sometimes.

They get all up in arms about it if "xyz person is, in fact, not a pussy" - not about whether you are stating it as opinion or fact. This is exactly what BRP is talking about - if you have a shitty wrong opinion, and get called out on it, you can't say "oh but it's just my opinion" and make it all ok - wrong is wrong.
