    anyone smoke cigars/have any recommendations?

my friend started taking me to the cigar shop once a week or so and I am trying to find what I like, so far have had a Rocky Patel Edge Lite, and a Baccarat Toro. Both seemed fairly mild, and I wouldn't mind a more full bodied smoke, but naturally my experience and knowledge is lacking so any tips/advice/recommendations would be appreciated

I am in the same area as you are, new to the wonderful world of cigars I wouldnt mind having more suggestions, I started out with Acid but they are kinda weak to me now. At the moment my favorites are Davidoff and Aston and they are supposed to be higher end cigars and they are usually about 10-15 dollars each. Unfortunatly I cant give many more suggestions then that since I am still learning what I enjoy. SO I will take any advice as well!

    Same boat....

    Davidoff cigars are great

I recently had a Monte Cristo White Label that I really enjoyed. It's pretty full bodied with a lot of earthy tones. I enjoyed it even more than i thought i would

My favorite brand. Smooth taste and burns for just the right amount of time. If you are just switching over from cigs or just want a light smoke, I suggest their Cubanitos line. Same size as a cig, but feels so much beeter to smoke.

Cuesta Rey Centro Pyramid #9 is a great smoke, moderately priced.

*edit* a lot of cigar shops have 'defect' shelves. cigar companies will often send out the cigars that get wrapped with seams or small tears or bulges to the stores to sell in bulk with huge discounts so ask about that. You can get some really good deals and if you're searching for something without knowing to much it's a good way to experience a lot of different flavors. When i first found that out i got a pack of 6 cigars that usually cost like 50 bucks for about 15.

I made a bigass post in a very similar thread a while ago, lemme see if I can find that.

    http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/62211...ml#post2175859

That was specifically about Cubans, but at least a few of those are available in U.S. legal lines.

Um, are you looking for like specific stuff to try? Or just advice in general?

Best advice I can give really is to try something like a R&J Churchill, or an Opus X, and let us know what you think, easier to go from there.

I like Romeo and Julietta and Monte Cristo personally.

When I travel abroad.... Cuban Cohiba all the way.

I like Romeo and Julietta #2. I'm not a big cigar guy, but these have a nice flavor and aroma.

I'm going back today and my rl friend recommended a Gurkha Shaggy, so I think I'll try that, but I imagine I'll be going fairly regularly, so I'll try the other suggestions at some point and give feedback, thanks so far!

Probably as different as shisha tastes and feels compared to a cigarette. As someone who smokes from a hookah daily, I'd be very surprised if high-end cigars, like the ones this thread is revolved around, are at all similar to shisha. I've only smoked cheap cigars that people probably use as blunts more than they actually smoke (which can come nowhere close to being compared to shisha), though, so take that for what it's worth.

This is the truth. Opus X is my favorite Fuente and if you are into light "morning" cigars then Macanudo Duke of York is a good one too.

    Cohiba are great.

But if you want to prove your toughness get a Punch. I used to do Cigars quite often but the Punch nearly floored me in 2 inhales.

Ashton is my favorite brand, very smooth and lack of crappy aftertaste. So for a full bodied i would go with a Ashton VSG Spellbound. Also try a don pepin garcia, and fall in love! Funte's are also great! Also usually anything that says Connecticut or has a white label is lighter.

    is this a good deal?
"Gurkha Clash of the Titans Sampler
This sampler puts the Gurkha Heavyweight and Lightweight samplers together for massive savings. Includes one each of the following: Gurkha Titan II, Gurkha Beast, Gurkha Signature Maduro, Gurkha Triple Ligero, Gurkha Legend, Gurkha Beauty, Gurkha Centurian, Gurkha Signature, and Gurkha Regent." Its 69.95, which is 7 per, which is decent since gurkhas can be pricey.
Tried an Oliva Conneticut tonight, store was having an event. $5 for cigar, food, and drink.

I liked pipe (tabacco) better than cigars... You can get some nice flavoured stuff and that smells really good and leaves a nice taste in your mouth.

Personally enjoy Montecristo and Cohiba or in mood for something lighter and cheap CAO Gold. Romeo and Julietta's aren't bad either. If you can get your hands on some Cuban Cohibas will be one of smoothest richest draws in my opinion. Cigars are like booze though and everyone seems to have a certain taste that speaks to them, so smoke up and find whats right for you. Talk to the guy selling you the cigars at the counter as well to see if theres any newer brands/labels that he thinks you might like based off what brands you currently like as they probably know alot of the product well. And um don't inhale those cigars. Make sure you light your cigars with a Butane lighter or wooden matches to not fuck with the taste. But ya all the brands listed are sound choices.

I just went to a nearby cigar place in Pike Place Market and they were out of the Fuente Cubanitos, so they must be good. I asked if they had Cohiba and they looked at me kinda funny (lol cuban cigars illegal or wut?), but they invited me to a "tasting" on Saturday, got an invite card and everything.

    Should be fun.

I ended up walking out with some dark & light Cubano Fresca, or something like that. Were only $4 a pop.
