Star Ocean 4 for PS3 via Gamefly leak

I liked the whole package with SO3.
Characters, story (even the plot twist, maybe because I wasn't so attached to the other games, the execution wasn't so great but I loved the idea), battle system, music, graphic presentation.
Even the voice acting wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Nel, Maria, Fayt, Cliff, Mirage and Albel weren't too bad. I don't have experience with the other characters aside from Peppita (who I will admit was terrible).

In my personal opinion, Star Ocean 3 was the best in the series.

I agree. It had a great balance of story, characters, and a game breaking crafting system. Loved my +5897934857 ATK Sword.

Also enjoyed SO3 much more than SO4. One of my biggest issues with SO4 was the main character... I'm not sure I've ever disliked the main character in an RPG as much as I hated Edge. Found myself rushing through this game, which I never do in RPG's, just so I could shelf the damn game and pretend I never bought it.

I loved the battle system. The characters... eh. The VA sucked but some were good. I thought Meracle was adorable at least. Couldn't stand Sarah.

What's her face, the skimpy hoe with the pointy ears. I thought she was WAY too in your face with the "Hey I have big boobs, and am sexy, and hardly wear anything, fuck me prz." thing. Can't stand characters like that.

And if this does come out for PS3, if it doesn't have any significant extras like Tales of Vesperia, I probably won't get it.

No but seriously, some of the side character were pretty bad. Most felt out of place or forced in, but they were easy to ignore as well. While the rest were not the most memorable RPG character, their actions and motives were believable at least.

I liked the SO3 characters quite a bit, especially by comparison to SO4's. I really don't get why people hated the 'twist' in SO3, I didn't think it was too terrible, certainly wasn't good but like Charismatic said, was an interesting concept.

People on the internet are unable to rationalize their emotion. They always have to be at the extreme edge of the spectrum. It's either the best or the worst.


And yes, good idea, terrible execution for the plot twist. Minor tweaking could have made it awesome, which is why I don't mind too much.

SO4 was probably my biggest disappointment in this gen of consoles as far as RPGs go. Yes, the gameplay is fun, but the story was simply unbearable.. it made no sense, jumped ahead way too fast, and I won't even mention the terrible characters and Lym's annoying VO, 'kay?

On Monday night, a listing for Star Ocean: The Last Hope was posted onto GameFly, and picked up by the internet only a few moments after. Curious to find out what's going on, we contacted Square Enix and have received a response today.

"We cannot comment on a PS3 release at this time." Square Enix PR Klee Kuo told us. "The posting on Gamefly.com was an error and had been taken down from their site."

The "we cannot comment" part can always bring "hope" (it's called The Last Hope, don't expect us to stop using that word) for Star Ocean: The Last Hope on PlayStation 3.

I still have yet to finish the 360 version. The story will still be crap, but at least you can listen to the Japanese voices.

The character designs/personalities have me really reluctant on putting down the $59+tax on this but I will probably do it just to support the JRPG scene the PS3 so desperately needs.

Oh fuck yeah international version. I wonder if it is fully international (ie. text/menu's option to be in english and an option for english subs for the jp voicework), hopefully it is so we don't have to wait for a stateside release.

Was bound to happen given what SE had said initially. Surprised though that it didn't come sooner honestly. I still haven't beaten Star Ocean 3. FFXI just stopped me from finishing RPGs.

Is there even any reason to own a 360 now? I haven't touched mine in so long, and it's fucking huge, could probably sell it or something idk <.< Never did really like Microsoft, xboxs, or the types of games that come out with it.
