    Warhammer Online for Mac Beta

Mythic Entertainment | Warhammer Online - Play the 10-Day Free Trial!

A step in the right direction for MMOs. Although it is using cider (wine implementation for gaming) it is a start. I'd like to see more and more developers release Mac clients along-side PC clients. MMOs are not the same as FPS games with dominate much of the traditional PC gaming market, therefore I think MMOs could expand the Mac gaming market.

I'm a Mac user who built my first gaming PC to play FFXI prior to the PS2 NA release. Since then I have ventured into numerous PC games and have built several PCs. In my line of work I have built many PC servers and workstations so building a gaming PC is a piece of cake. Keeping a gaming PC working flawlessly through numerous windows updates is quite another matter, lol.

I'd like to have the option to play more games on my Mac sans boot camp.

Didn't WoW do this aeons ago?

Also, Warhammer is mediocre. Avoid it.

Yeah WoW was released day 1 Mac & PC. But WoW is still WoW and I just can't stand playing it. I'd like to see FFXIV released for Mac.

Like I've said on other post on the topic if game developers move away from directx and towards opengl they can make games that could more easily be ported to Mac or Linux. When Apple released the Intel powered Macs Blizzard OpenGL WoW client was demo'd reaching much higher frame rates than Windows PC WoW client using Directx. Quality can be matched with OpenGL and it offers greater portability, PS3 development environments utilizes OpenGL graphics.

It's not really WoW-specific, it's just that everything Blizzard makes they simultaneously launch for both Mac & PC.
