Smithing 20-34 Rusty Caps?

I've been looking for a cheap way to power synth smithing from 20 up as far fast and cheaply as possible, and seen rusty caps (34).

As we all remember, they can be caught pretty easily in rabao, so all I need is a decent supply of light crystals, and at 3K a dozen synths its way cheaper than other smithing synths.

My question is, #1 has anyone tried this and are the skillups good?

And #2 is 14 levels away too big of a stretch and should I get a bit higher first?

sorry urat can't give you any advice on that, but if you have alchemy steel bullets are nice to pouch up and sell. I've recently been working on smithing and I did that for about 5 levels.

Naw man I'm a woodworker, alchemy, though I should have it leveled for bolts, is not really leveled at all yet.

Just trying to get smithing up for subcraft to WW.

I personally wouldn;'t attempt this unless I'm a fisherman and am stuck with caps from fishing to begin with. At 14 below I would probably stick with the traditional route.

14 definitely too low... i did some cloth 8-10 under with support and broke a ridiculous amount.

Ok thanks for the help, I'll definitely use this synth once I'm in the avergae range of 7ish though, being as cheap as it is.

might wanna try mining, its how I lvld my smithing.... granted it takes a long time, but you get pretty decent profits

I know this is late but definately not from 20 but I did use Rusty Caps as skillups because you can catch them while fishing for Devil Manta in Kuftal. I suggest getting the +1 Maul to extend the time you skill on them.

I can catch about 2-3 a minute with shrimp lure in port windurst ^^

Smithing was very quick and innexpensive to level for me as a sub - through the 20's I went:

-> 21 iron ingots (save them all)
21-22 - Iron sheets (save them all)
22-26 - Iron Scales (turn them into Makibishi afterwards, I used on my ninja and sold the rest)
26-29 iron Mask (just NPC)
29-30 Iron Chain (I just sold these on AH, they sold pretty fast), or save for chain/finger gautlettes synth for 31 or 32 level.

Hope that helps! It really is quite quick, and innexpensive.

I did this for smithing, but 20 may be too early imo. Light still isn't that cheap with all the breaks you'll see (no skills on breaks that low) Think I started at 26

On a side note, smithing 55-60 was more expensive than gold 50-60 for me, hated smithing more ><
