I find it very hard to believe deep inside there is anyone in this thread who truly believes they would be better off in a pure anarchistic or communistic society. Not to mention that believes such a society is actually possible.

I don't think any of us leftists are for pure socialism ( different from communism ), I believe at one point or another we've all identified ourselves as democratic socialists.

We want to maintain our democratic and free market society but believe there are certain resources / services that should not be for profit as well as there should be serious regulations on business to prevent workers and consumers being taken advantage of.



@ Sirrus - Ya and look at Mexico, to make any money outside of major urban areas, and even inside people turn to trafficking drugs or becoming part of the crime industry. They can work in shit conditions in Mexico for 1 cent an hour or decent yet possibly unsafe conditions for 25 cents to a dollar per hour if they want honest work, so they take the risk to flee their country for better circumstances and their home country suffers for it.

Actually the way I read it there's a slight expansion of Medicaid to cover those in low-income brackets, and the non-profit co-op idea is in there, but that's it. I see they left the individual mandate in there though, which is total bullshit when people don't have an affordable option.

Also, there's a reference to S.979/H.R. 2360 "The Small Business Health Options Program Act”, which if I read it right would create a public health plan for small businesses and self-employed individuals and offer it through an insurance exchange. I guess that's some small hope.

Overall I'd want to say this is 85% to the goal, though without a public option and with a fucking mandate it gets bumped back to 70%.

Decriminalized, and MA only has "free" health-care if you make below poverty level, and then from a sliding scale up until 300% of poverty level, where you're not eligible.
