I'm trolling the conservatives right now, lord its fun, on my facebook friend list.

Good job people! Personally i see this akin to when the Green Party marches from the state capitol to the governor's mansion to attempt to send their message across to legalize marijuana while the governor is on summer vacation. I understand it's more for symbolism, but the man you're trying to get your point across to isn't home. If you really want to make a difference, march to the homes of the Congressmen & women to voice your opinion. They're the real headliners, the President is just the hype man.

    oh, that.

Well, I discussed this before, but i'll go ahead remind you again how this works. The reason there are practically no interstate insurance pools, is because each state has its own requirements and regulations to how and what should, shouldn't be covered. There are no explicit restrictions preventing it.

Isn't regulations a restriction? and that's what the GOP is proposing as their free market solution to health care reform. yet you have Tim pawlenty of MN and Rick perry of texas tossing around the tenth amendment like theres no tomorrow.

I don't know who those people are, but if I had to guess, neither of those men support deregulation of insurance licensing on state level, since that would mean those phat insurance bribe checks would stop rolling in. That idea, if it is being discussed or considered, probably originated from old school conservatives who probably wanted that for a long time.

however hypocrisy is a chief tenant for both sides of the isle imho.

I'm to tired to look it up, maybe tomorrow, but congress passed a law that allowed states to ban the sell of other state's insurance in their state. Without the law by congress, that would have been unconstitutional or something.

Edit: And Obama admits the public option will shrink the private option. I just moved to Toledo a couple weeks ago for law school so no clue if this is a right leaning paper. http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-1...-care-takeover

Excellent way to start a debate, old chap. The problem with the quote you have there is that just because costs are rising does not mean that quality of care is rising. Independent panels have determined repeatedly that America does not have the best health care. For instance, if we look at a measure of health - life expectancy at birth - we find that not only is America not the best, but they're only barely in the top 50%. Your own government fact sheet notes this: https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...elds/2102.html

The reason that the article is wrong is twofold: first, it equates a high cost with quality. This is well known to not be correct. For instance, buying an expensive GM car compared to a cheap Toyota does not mean you can expect to have a long and problem free ownership. Second, it equates a lowering of the household percentage spent on basic needs with an enrichment of quality of life, when another reason could be that people are instead outspending their means to keep up with their neighbours or going deep into debt to maintain appearances. As the current global financial situation shows, this is by far the more likely reason.

Yea, I much rather have higher taxes, have big pharma make more money and print more fiat currency for whatever we don't make up in our hiked taxes.

Profit makes me sick to my stomach too.

I know(or hope) you're being sarcastic, but I see people say this stupid shit all the time. Non-Profit =/= Charity, and hell, even people who work for charities get paid.

The difference between a for profit and NPO is that an NPO cannot issue stocks, that's it, the only difference.

I just always see this false leap from NPO to volunteering, which is false, most NPOs are run exactly like for-profit corporations, the primarily philosophical difference being they can have agendas besides profit.

I think it's funny all those people showed up for an anti-tax rally and hardly anyone was protesting against taxes.

Well first of all the Republicans aren't proposing shit to reform health care. They promised they'd have a bill ready in July but still haven't introduced one. They would rather qq about being called assholes than get to work on reforming health care. Meanwhile the Democrats have like 3-4 bills being negotiated and will have a final bill ready in the next 2-3 weeks.

Secondly, Obama has proposed (and this will probably be in the final bill) a national health insurance exchange, whereby consumers can compare prices and enroll in plans. So that in theory should eliminate many of the differences among coverage by state. Ironically this is actually a conservative idea, it has its roots in the Heritage Foundation which is a conservative think tank. Not surprisingly then, it is a pretty shitty idea. Massachusetts has a health insurance exchange in place and it hasn't done shit to lower prices.

Third, nobody cares about states' rights. Conservatives only mention it in the context of the civil war and the civil rights movement because they're racist (not all conservatives are, just the ones that talk about states' rights). States essentially only have the rights that the Federal government allows them to have. Washington has long used conditional funding and the commerce clause to override state laws.

Way to suck at economics. We don't print currency to cover deficits, otherwise the Bush years would have seen massive inflation.

It's kind of funny how conservatives worship Milton Friedman and Alan Greenspan yet many don't have a clue how monetarism works.

Edit: He's right about health care being non-profit too, in Germany, Switzerland, and a few other countries health insurance is required to be non-profit, and their systems work just fine.

Alright, you tell me how we funded the Iraq War and Bailouts.

Edit: Not saying all of it came from printing. Just a nice big fat chunk. And our currency is dealing with inflation.

What are you fucking stupid? Who are you talking about? It is inconceivable that someone who is anti war is anti health care?
