    Vans Warped Tour 2009

Just spent the last 9 hours at probably the best concert I've ever seen. I'm in Detroit and shit was epic. The best band that played was The Devil Wears Prada at least 15 people were carried out on stretchers from the mosh pit. If you've been in other cities wanted to know your thoughts on it this year.

It was pretty ballin. DWP was great and had a nice pit. As was A Day To Remember was good too. Dance Gavin Dance dipped out 2 days before they hit ATL so I was kinda disappointed and I missed Streetlight Manifesto cause I came too late.

All in all it was a pretty good run this year. Blazed and Confused was 2 days later here and blew it out of the water though.

I was at the one in NY. Epic show, A Day to Remembers pit was insane, way crazier then The Devil Wears Prada.

Oh how the tour has changed. For one the bands are mostly crap now (IMO anyways, save Bad Religion and Less Than Jake) and back when the Warped Tour was worth going to in 1996-2001ish the best pits were the ones where stupid kids didn't end up in the hospital. The real pits were the giant circle pits that bands like Pennywise would generate where almost everyone there would join in and there would be a cloud of dirt so big that it looked like a volcano errupted.

    Those were the days......

i went on the 19th in oceanport, nj..

I was up front for Bad Religion (they are amazinggggg live <3<3), the irish square dance / moshpit circle thing (was sooo funny to be in hahahahahhaha) during Flogging Molly was AMAZING, i saw some girl get thrown OUT of the crowd during Anti-Flag lol... annnnnddddd Streetlight Manifesto's performance... amazing... fun fun times =) People went a LOT crazier during Attack Attack! here than The Devil Wears Prada, we actually had to carry out my friend during Attack Attack! because some fat bitch landed on him rofl. Madina Lake was an amazing show, they are REALLY good and I didn't realize until I saw them live lol... Also went to see Brokencyde and Saosin and they were ok.. mostly friends wanted to see them. I saw Senses Fail too, and its cool because they originated like, 2 towns over from me.. and I saw them before they were as well known as they are now =)

TDWP was good when they came around to my local scene about a year ago, the venue was packed obviously but they put on a good show. I was scared for my life when White Chapel was on before them though.

I wanted to go so bad, and you are all making me feel bad by telling me how awesome Bad Religion was.

I'm going on the 12th, can't wait. It's my first Warped though, what should I expect as far as itinerary goes? Like how does the day go down? Any tips?

By the way, this should be in Bentertainment, but I'll wait to move it for a day or so.

I went to the one in Hartford CT july 12th and it was probably the best experience I have ever been to. If Chiodos are playing at your concert go see them they have awesome music and put on an awesome show definitly the craziest pit of they day hehe .

And to Epical basically you will miss some of the bands you want to see because there is 7 different stages during the show. I highly suggest getting a map with the listings of the bands/times it cost 2 dollars though. If your prone to sunburn sunscreen is your friend, I got sunburned pretty bad lol. Also bring water UNOPENED, water there will be 4 dollars a pop which sucks hardcore lol. Also if you like free shit go to some of the corporate tents the trojan both has this pretty funny ride that you kinda stand in that I suggest going to if you have time and you get free condoms lol.But yeah like I said I had a great time so I bet you will too

Epical.. my only real tip is to drink a lot of water. Not sure why it always turns out this way.. but the shows in Camden when I used to go were pretty much consecutively the hottest day of every summer. Everyone would be dying from the heat literally. I've seen a ton of heat induced seizures and dehydration. It can get really bad.

Not sure how it's set up anywhere else. I've only ever been to the Camden warped.. But at the Susquehanna Bank Center.. there's an indoor part sort of? And a lot of people take advantage of the air conditioning if only briefly for the downtime between the bands that you actually want to see.

As soon as you get there.. Try to find the giant blow up sign with the times for bands. Then write it down or put it in your phone for which bands are playing at what stages.. at what times. And then kind of just figure out your schedule from there. Get an idea for where everything is.. and then hit up tents and stuff for merch between sets and moving from stage to stage. Not sure how big you are on purchasing music and stuff. But Warped is the one time that I actually buy CDs.. They're generally only $5.. ($10 tops) and I know the money is going to the band because I'm literally handing it to them.

Lastly, if you think she might be legal. She's not.

Edit: Try to show up early so that you don't miss any bands. Sometimes bands get put on at 12 when the doors open.. and its always someone I regret not making it for. Also, it's basically a rule of thumb that the only bands you want to see will be playing at the same time. That's really why I stopped going.. besides the lack of talent on the bill.. The only bands I ever want to see are always playing at the same time. So choose wisely.

Oh ok, thanks (loved the bolded part, too). It's going to be 81 on the day of the event, so I'm expected to be drenched and very burnt. Also not looking forward to the bands I want to see playing at the same time. =(

Is it generally easy access to get from the big event area to the parking lot? I'm a stickler for band shirts and stuff, so I'll definitely have to off-load stuff to my car. Also, what time should I get there in the morning? And what time does it go until?

Pretty much this. Mosh pits are cool and all, but in the end, I think 90% of the people in them are there because they want to beat somebody up, not because they give a shit. I don't go to concerts because I want to fuck around with a bunch of other people, I want to see a band do what they do because I think they do it well. I do wish I'd seen LTJ a long time ago, but RBF and them apparently never liked each other, though I haven't kept up with either one in like 8 years.

It starts about 15mins after the time on your ticket and ends about 9~10 hours later. There is a lot of merchandise to be bought so bring money also an ATM card.
