Just saw it tonight. REALLY long. Like 2 and a half hours. It's a smart movie though, don't expect childish Big Daddy/Billy Madison/Water Boy type humor. But, I mean it does have Seth Rogan and Johan Hill, so expect some cheap laughs here and there.
Overall, I thought it was pretty good. It's got an emotional depth to it like a real movie should.
Looking forward to this movie.
Saw this movie last night, and I agree with Belkin. The main thing I was glad to see was Adam Sandler actually being in a movie that was a steaming pile of shit. I thought there were some subtle parallels to how his actual career in some parts (whether intentional or not).
I enjoyed it thoroughly. And holy shit, Seth lost weight and looks good!
I felt the length when watching too. I thought the dialogue was good but, man, I was checking the time on my phone every 15 mins after the 100 minute mark. I don't mind long movies as long as they don't feel long. Edit it down and put that extra stuff in the DVD.
There were quite a few laughs in the movie. I thought the movie had a good balance of smart and "cock" jokes for a guy like me. And when I say cock jokes, I mean like a bazillion cock jokes.
I think the joke at the very end about the grandpa titty fucking was the best one. Still laughing at that one.
Took the wife to see it last night. I was expecting a bit more "lol" but was satisfied with what I saw. I totally agree with the length being a little over board. You can see people in the theater getting restless.
So, Bo Burnham was totally in that movie. Was kinda cool, didn't expect it!
Also, the scene with Eminem and Ray Romano lol
isohunt.com yea the movie was very long
Thought it was a pretty good movie but as others said it was kind of long. Also for how long it was it kinda just ended abruptly. I really didn't mind the length though, I kind of prefer longer movies that give more detail anyways
Actually, Adam Sandler & Judd Apatow were roomates when they were both trying to hit it big. The film at the beginning with Sandler on the phone is the actual footage shot by Apatow back when they were roomates. There was a big article on on Rotten Tomatoes on how it parallels there life somewhat, which I found rather interesting.
I thought that it was worth seeing, albeit long, but definitely worth seeing. I didn't expect much on the serious side from an Adam Sandler movie, but it's all too common for comedians to fall into depression etc which made the story believable. Overall I would say a 6.5/10. I wasn't pissed I spent $7.50 to go see it, which says a lot since most movies irritate me these days. (CURSE YOU TRANSFORMERS 2!!! *shakes fist* )
edit: Oh, and I agree w/Pirian. The movie built up for so long, and the ending was like *poof*. I remember thinking, "Wow, thats the end? Hm, ok." >_> I wish they would have removed some of the fluff from earlier in the movie, and done more to tie up the loose ends.
Aziz as Randy was hilarious... I want a Randy movie!
The part with Eminem and Ray Ramano was fucking priceless. I about shit myself laughing.
