To be honest, I didn't like it that much. I didn't know what I was going into; I thought it was going to be some bad ass alien war movie or some shit, but it wasn't. It would have been rad if they expanded on the aliens weaponry and technology. A lot of the shaky cam gave me a headache during the first half and I just wanted it to end. Not a fan of it. Luckily the shaky cam stopped during the second half.

And yes I honestly don't know how you couldn't get this but if you don't...

The Johannesburg setting, the name District9,the concepts of segregation, tension concerning inter species interactions and even "relations" all parallels events in South Afri known as the Apartheid. District 6 was the name of the area where the blacks were kept, I believe?

Also, mnuspreadslies.com is a really cool find too.

I'm kinda surprised so many people liked this; I was pretty bored in general and I also just wanted it to end. The first 3/4ths is so damn slow moving for the most part, and then when things finally pick up it just stops right in its tracks again. I guess I just wasn't swept into the drama. I was pretty damn bored through most of it.

This was NOT the blockbuster hit of the summer. C- at best, Mockumentary feel, fake funny BS Office style, CG Alien child attempting to pluck heartstrings.. they think we are stupid, with as many people liking this as it reads, id say we are..

Good, not great. Action was kind of boring; didn't need to see the 'face' HUD for as long as they did. Paves the way for a promising sequel however. Rescue? Peace? Declare war?If a sequel is not made, and assuming that it as well made, if not better, this movie is not quite strong enough to stand alone. If the movie did not rush the ending and set up for a sequel, I would not have made this a big deal.

I'm glad however that the movie did not hamfist a Longwinded romance subplot into the movie, as many action movies these days requires.

There's only one thing I would have done differently from directors view. I think they should have done the interviews and tag-along cameras from another perspective to show that they are being filmed by a camera crew/cameraman. Other than that, the movie is very filmed and the underlying message deserves attention.

10/10 I tried so hard not to yell "Oh my GOD" at parts. Outstanding movie, awesome special effects and action, lots of omgwtfbbq heads exploding, also a little bit of comedy near the start.....
    Spoiler: show
When he retched on that cake and tried to wipe it off.... gross and funny....
Those wanting more of an Aliens vs. Humans war, I think that might be a possibility if there is a sequel....

I'm pretty mixed on a sequel. I honestly think they need to revisit the aliens coming back, and being removed, and the main character cured. Unfortunately, if they make a sequel, it will be terrible.

If you don't like smart science fiction, don't see this movie!

Just got back & I thought it was great. The special effects were so innovative. The power suit was jaw-dropping awesome.
