I guess I should have made it clear(since every site now has thought this) but I was not banned. I don't cheat. I still enjoy FFXI quite thoroughly. This banning situation is ruining that for everyone, and it needs to stop.

That's what I'm going for. Media coverage. If the players can collect their displeasure into a few key places, that can be used as a starting step to getting the negative media coverage that SE so desperately tries to avoid.

You remember what happened with PW, and you may or may not remember when the Alla editorials got them to both get off their asses and fix magic resists, but even apologize to the players.

This is something no one man can do. That's why I'm reaching out.

SE won't listen to the players, but when the media starts slamming them for this, they might actually do something.

I think most people that get banned consider it a blessing. Youd be hurting them by trying to help them get back.

Saying that you play a Galka doesn't help your cause, in fact I think it hurts it. Know one likes Galkas. Thats why everyone carries around those galka tail cutters because they want to see them die.

I know the natural instinct of a number of people here is to immediately enter flame mode when they see a post like this (amazingly however, nobody has seriously done it yet here), but everyone should try and show a little tolerance for stuff like this.

Have some of the bannings been a bit ridiculous? Yes. Will anything come of this? I doubt it.

Imagine how you would feel if your Linkshell leader got banned for no reason, or if the guy/girl you duo’d all the way to 75 and became great friends with was banned for no fault of his/her own.

My Einherjar mule got banned for "Irregular Activity" a couple weeks ago. I've logged on to twice a week for 30 mins to gather feathers for over a year now.

I'm going to say that's getting banned for literally no reason.

Also, media coverage is what SE reacts to the most. So if you do plan on going through with this little campaign of yours, I suggest you start there. That PW shit even ended up on G4TV.

Petitions don't get shit done. The emails, I'm working on, but I need to be able to show that the community supports the idea. One voice saying "Hey, something's up here" is a lot less effective than "Hey, somethings up here, and all of these people agree with me, and this is what they have to say about it." However, I'm not foolish enough to believe that anyone would honestly put the effort into constructing a well written argument email.

That's what's called a petition.

People bitching that CoP is too hard, that Black Mage sucks, that dying comes with an experience penalty, that items don't drop, that Mithra don't give us blowjobs every time we log in. There's a reason why most people don't take your "cause" seriously and why the only people who do congregate in a specific place.

I would love to see SE stand up and tell us why it is exactly that legitimate players are getting banned over something that has to do with their credit cards.

Deactivate the accounts, sure, but why does this constitute a ban? I will say that I'm often broke. I don't have a ton of credit cards, I have two. (Used to be three, but I let one run out without renewing it.) Some months it would be a scramble to find the account I could use to pay for SE's services, but I always found a way. I borrowed money from my mother twice, and I borrowed from my dad once. When I called SE about the temporary ban on Aksannyi, I told them this. They apparently found sufficient evidence to allow the account to be renewed.

Fast-forward a month and a half, and my mule account is banned. I expect that they'll merely want the same verification. This particular account has not been steadily active. There were months at a time where it would be inactive because I couldn't afford to pay for two accounts. However, this account never was placed on a card that didn't belong to me when it was active, and yet it was permanently banned. Something is not adding up here. Stopping and starting an account is not indicative of something illegal, it's indicative of someone who has no money.

They've made billing damn near impossible. If you got overcharged, you'd call SE and they'd say the charges were legit, yet if you called your bank to charge it back, you'd get banned by SE. This is absolutely terrible customer service, and it has nothing do with their representatives, either, although I'm not even going to go there.

This is absolutely retarded. What the hell is "irregular activity," SE? Starting and stopping payment (by way of canceling content IDs) when I can/can't afford it? Changing to different card which is ALSO MINE because the card it's currently on has no funds? Neither of these practices should be worthy of a ban. The economy is going to hell right now and people are struggling to afford many things. I continued to pay for their game even though I couldn't really afford it, because I enjoyed playing it. I scrambled some months to put a bit of extra money in my account so that I wouldn't get shut off. I've borrowed a few times. This is a sign of loyalty, in my book, but in SE's book, I'm a criminal. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to look at my accounts and see all the payments in my name, excluding the few from my parents.

It really has gotten ridiculous. Initially the chargeback thing seemed like a good idea, if only a minor inconvenience. Now that they're permanently banning accounts and giving legitimate paying customers the runaround, I really don't know what they are expecting of people. No one is safe, apparently. If you change your card just one time, you might not be able to play their game again.

That's shady and it's shitty. As long as you get your money and you can verify that it came from me (which you can), you shouldn't have a problem with which Visa it comes from. Banning people for so-called irregular activity being "changing credit cards frequently" or whatever else, just shows your unwillingness to check into it further and see that every time I paid for my banned account, my name was on the card I gave you.

This is very poor. And I will not give SE another cent of my money for this game. I'm undecided about XIV at this point, but unless they can shape up and realize that banning people who pay for their accounts on a regular basis is bullshit, I won't even consider starting another MMO from them.

SE talk to us and explain themselves? hahahah who do you think they are? You forgive them every month when you pay them.

Of course they ignore the playerbase. According to those comments, CoP should have no level caps for any of the battles and every mob should drop every item 100% of the time. Thank god they don't listen to the players.

For the 100th time you don't own your account. SE can ban you for anything they want. Yeah it's unacceptable but enough people are still playing the game and giving them money for SE not to care.

The only thing that makes a video game company do anything is when they think they will start losing money. Thats why letters and forum posts don't matter to them, but numbers and bad press do.

I understand that it sucked for legit players to get banned, but I understand where SE is coming from. They wanted to ban RMT, so they just banned all the hardcore gardeners. If you are RMT, you aren't gonna call up SE and damand your account back. The legit players will though, and I think this is why SE just "carpet bombed" them.


EDIT: The salvage bans did make me sad though. Mostly because it was fun /checking SA members and seeing their rediculous gear. Now that SA is gone there are no OMFG LSs where you check one of them and know your gonna see some really cool shit.

As it stands now, SE doesn't give a shit. Theytak is correct in this fact, plus the fact that we need to do something to make them care. However, just talking about it on forums is likely not going to fix the problem. Simply put, we need another PW, an outcry of /b/ proportions, another shitstorm so great that they can't ignore it anymore. Will we be able to make one out of this? Maybe, if enough people care. Maybe this is the seed that will start it, but maybe it's not, and if it's not then we're just going to be doomed to be randomly banned until SE does something so unforgivable that people are forced to get off their cushions of apathy and make that epic outcry.

Ironically, these are exactly the kind of threads that BG hates Alla for.

I know that just talking about on forums isn't gonna change anything. The real thing is that getting everyone talking gets the ball rolling, and once the ball's rolling, provided you can steer it, shit gets done.

They have been banning for no reason. My mule account which was deactivated for 6 months was randomly banned during his period of deactivation. I didn't pursue it because its highest job was just 59brd, so I didn't really care.

However this month, my account (which was not registered to my name) was banned for "suspicious activities" which they will not reveal, only that their autoban system issued the ban. SE refuses to lift the ban unless I fax them a photocopied picture of a state issued ID with the name the account is registered to, which cant happen so I'm sol.

I can tell you right now that the mule account had done nothing, the main account had done nothing recently (lol) and that SE's autoban system is getting out of control.

P.S. - I don't think picketing is the way to go either, has anyone considered killing it with fire?

Everyone here would love SE to be more open and uban people that were not rightfully banned. We want them to be open about everything, we want them to look to the community and listen to us and want our feedback more then anything. We want them to listen to our ideas and fix this game so that it can become something great. But the reality is they wont listen to you me or any of us unless we somehow get on the news again with people vomiting all over themselves after 18 hrs. So we sit here huddled together in a game that is not dying as much as it has been perpetually stagnating grumbling amongst the friends we have made and feel close to for sharing the same nightmarish game with no respect for its customers that we have.
