Couple things:

As far as National Enquirer goes, they're pretty unreliable in the vast majority of their other news, but relatively often they get it right with people that have celebrity status. Given, sometimes they also fabricate shit entirely and anything they print should be taken with a grain of salt, but when it comes to celebrity news it's best to hold onto that information for a while because chances are eventually it will actually be proven.

Palin being a republican politician means a divorce will most likely cost her votes and possibly take her out of consideration for republican presidential nominee in the future, so it would really not surprise me to learn that her marriage is actually deeply troubled but her people are doing the best they can to keep the situation under wraps until they can either spin it to make her look like some kind of victim and heroine while simultaneously hoping they can work it out and keep it together. More often than not, people deny rumors of their relationship being on the rocks, but it's almost always followed by a subsequent story of the break up or divorce.

While certainly this will affect her standing w/ the ~5million(probably less now) hardcore evangelical voters that Karl Rove felt cost Bush the popular vote in 2000 because they found out about the DUI, she is still leaps and bounds ahead of any other potential 2012 candidate in popularity amongst the birther base that makes up the core of the GOP. IMO her only competition is Newt (2-3 times divorced himself.) and Mitt the Shit Romney who lets face it as a mormon has no chance w/ the born agains that vote in GOP primaries even if he would be one of their stronger candidates in the general election.
