Can anyone recommend VGA cables for the PS3?
I can't find one with decent reviews.

Not got DVI on your monitor? Could just use any ol' HDMI->DVI adapter if so, and run the audio through composite by whatever means necessary to hook it to your speakers.
(which for me involved converting them to a 3.5mm cable)
I wouldn't recommend any VGA cables for the PS3, would do as Kaisha said. My monitor has Audio out and an HDMI input so I was in luck there. Just plugged my bose 3s directly into the monitor and the PS3 into it with HDMI.
Other options would be running your PS3 into a receiver using optical sound and using the DVI inputs on your monitor for video.
IMO PS3 in VGA is going to look really bad, probably why you're having a hard time finding good reviews.
Problem is my monitor only has 1 DVI port and 1 VGA port. I don't want to go through the hassle of switching them every time I want to play PS3.
If I buy a VGA to DVI adapter, will I lose response time / input lag?
Do I just need to buy a 2nd monitorz?
You don't have any TVs?
You may be able to purchase a switch that you can plug both your PS3 and PC into, then plug that into your monitor, it'd sit right on your desk so instead of having to switch the cables you'd just have to push a button or turn a knob, depending on the switch.
Yeah, I have a huge Samsung that has input lag for fighting games and a CRT monitor which is taking up too much space I want to put in a closet, lol.
Just buying a VGA to DVI adapter isn't the best solution?
I don't think I understand why you would want to buy a VGA to DVI, if you don't want to be switching them back and forth. If you are going to be plugging and unplugging then buy a HDMI to DVI cable it's going to be much better quality overall, you still have to find a way to get sounds also.
Edit: Unless I was reading this wrong and you meant to switch your VGA port on the monitor to a DVI port. Either way, you're getting a VGA signal, it would have to lose quality to be plugged into VGA.
I have a HDMI to DVI cable.
My computer monitor only has 1 DVI port and 1 VGA port.
I want to leave my computer DVI cable plugged in at all times; I also want my PS3 DVI cable to be plugged in at all times.
I don't mind pressing the button on the monitor to switch sources; I just don't want to be unplugging and plugging in cables every day.
Downconverting to VGA will work if you can find an adapter.
I did a quick search and it looks like DVI switchers are quite exspensive.
Edit: I think you're going to need a DVI female to VGA male adapter.
Could also do HDMI female to VGA male too. Assuming you have a standard HDMI cable.

DVI Female > VGA Male
I don't see any hdmi female to vga male adapters on newegg
HDMI is digital. If you get a HDMI->DVI converter plug, it's going to be digital DVI, not analog DVI. DVI->VGA converter plugs are for analog DVI only, which has a few extra pins. You can't convert HDMI to VGA without actual circuitry, to convert the digital signal to analog, like the digital TV boxes people need if their TV doesn't support ATSC.
There's the official VGA cable from the PS2 Linux Kit that should work with a PS3, if you can set the component color encoding output to RGB instead of Y/Pb/Pr. Good luck finding one of those though. You'd have better luck finding a component->VGA adapter plug, and setting the proper color encoding.
Ended up just buying this, I believe it is what I need:

Do you even know if your monitor can accept an HDTV signal? Most can't.
Even if it can...can it accept YPbPr over the VGA port instead of RGB? Cause the PS3 doesn't output RGB(and again, most can't)
Let us know if it works for you! I rarely play console, or PC games really. But when I do I want them to looks as good as they can, so analog is not really for me.
