    Car audio

I have a o4 Z and im trying to figure out why the speakers on the right side of my car have stopped working. I'm hoping its just something i can fix easily and by myself.

Details: well its all the speakers on the right. lol If i put the balance to the right i get no sound what so ever. No bass, nothing.

Im hoping im a failure at cars and its just a fuse that i dont know exsists.

    Possibilities:

    Bad balancing controller

    Internal amp went bad

    Solution:
    Aftermarket radio

Can be less than 100$ or more than a grand depending on the route you go. I recommend Kenwood units, Alpine and Sony are good too. In my exp I'd steer clear of JVC.

Your cheapest option is probably going to be a Dual head unit. Check out crutchfield.com for prices.

As always you get what you pay for, but honestly with Dual you get more than you pay for. It's not top of the line, but it's better than factory and great for the price.

Well if your internal amp on the radio went bad, it's no longer sending a signal to those speakers. The amp is what powers your speakers, I am guessing for some reason it has failed on you, but only on the right side.

It may not be the actual problem, but I am betting that if it isn't whatever the actual problem is will have the same solution. As far as wiring, I doubt it because your speakers are wired separately meaning BOTH the front and rear would have come loose from either the speaker or receiver, at the exact same time. I highly doubt that happened.

Between Kenwood, Alpine, and Sony, Alpine is the best by a long shot. I would also reccomend Pioneer as a good brand if you're looking for decent performance without dishing out the cash for an Alpine. It really depends on what kind of money you want to put into the deck. Also consider what you want to listen to in your car.

If you are going to be listening to your ipod, instead of going with a deck that just has an AUX jack, consider upgrading to one with USB input as well. This lets you control the ipod from the deck, and charges while it's playing. Here's a link to the deck I have right now

Pioneer HD Radio™ Package Includes DEH-P4000UB CD receiver and GEX-P10HD HD Radio tuner at Crutchfield.com

Easy to use, and does everything I need it to. I paid $165 a year ago and that was without the HD tuner. The USB is convenient, runs through the back of the deck into my glove box so my ipod just stays in there.

Look for the RMS voltage the deck puts out, obviously the higher the voltage the louder the speakers. Most are advertisted as 50W x 4 but that's usually max. Mine puts out 14W RMS.

If you have a subwoofer or might be putting one in eventually, look for a deck with 6 preamp outputs. This lets you connect each speaker and an amp for your sub without having to run a splitter.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Edit: If you're comfortable with taking some minor things apart, you could take off the door panels on the passenger side and check the wires running to your speakers. If the wires aren't loose you're probably going to need to replace the deck. If the speakers came back on for a few minutes like you said, there's no way it's a blown fuse. The right side output on your factory stereo might either have the RCA wires loose, or the internal amp could be going like Alishe said. If the RCA's on the stereo are loose, you're going to have to take the whole unit out of the dash and check behind the unit.

Everyone should run a 4 channel amp to their speakers so the RMS on your deck is useless! Important things to make note of our EQ bands and crossovers. I can't link my deck since I guess it got discontinued or something, even though I just bought it for 300$ish on sale in November.

    My setup:

    2x Rockford Fosgate 12in T1s
    6.5cu ft ported box
Rockford Fosgate T1500watt mono amp rated @ over 1800watts RMS
Rockford Fosgate 4 channel 400watt amp
Rockford Fosgate 10 Farad Capacitor going into both amps - digital display
Kenwood excelon headunit - bluetooth/HD radio ready
Kenwood excelon componet 6.5in rounds in the front with the tweeters mounted in the doors.
Kenwood excelon 6.5in rounds in the rear doors
    dynomatted
0 gauge wire going into cap, 4 gauge coming out all high quality speaker wires

Cost: Too damn much, receipts total more than 3000$ Sounds amazing, complete waste of money though lol..

Wish I could run a set up like that. When you mentioned Kenwood I completely forgot about the Excelon like, pretty good shit. My car's old and not worth putting more equipment into, so I bought what I could at the time.

2x Orion 12" HP's in the factory box (started with a 10" kicker comp in a sealed box, then 2x Sony Xplod 12" in bandpass box)
    Pioneer GM-7300 "800w" amp (running 4 ohms 250w /cry)
No 4-channel for my speakers just running off deck
    Pioneer P4000UB deck
Alpine Type S up front, Concepts in the back
    No dynamat (was broke)

Spent around $1500 in all, only thing I'm keeping for my next car is the subs. Went from running 360w each to my xplods to 125 each to my orions, and the orions are so much louder. Started with a 90w 2 channel amp so my wiring wasn't handling 1 ohm well.

I went from Duals in a bandpass box, to kenwood 12s, to Rockford P3 12s to my T1s which I love. Just wish I could fit 2x T2 15s, sadly Rangers have their limits

Pfft mine is in a saturn SC1... It took 4 guys 45 minutes to get the box into my trunk through the front. The latch for the trunk to stay closed sticks out too far to get it in through the back. They had to take all my seats out and bend something in my trunk to get it to fix. I'd like 2 15's with a sick set up but I'm guna wait till im done with college and have a real job for that one.

Sorry for hi-jacking if you have other questions or whatever let us know
