Agree about the See-saw stat things.
As far as EVE goes, I do like the idea about having those skills learned and active the whole time, but I'm sure they'll throw some limitations on them like.. you can't use a Provoke/Defender-like Warrior/Paladin skill as your Wizard form or whatever.
Also, I agree about the blotchy sky during storms, rofl.
As far as race being important, I think it's mentioned in the original post that it wasn't going to be as important on here as it was on FFXI, so that's a good thing. Maybe not as many massive whiffs as an Elvaan now?!
I'll be ok with whatever they do as long as they give us utsusemi again, lol.
Or at least *something* to make tanking interesting. Most MMOs don't even have an enmity system xD
* Currently investigating whether to allow all skills to be mastered, or have a see-saw style system like crafting in Final Fantasy XI*
I hope its not a see saw style system ... i kinda would like to see all classes mastered.
Hm. I want them to let us carry over skills from other classes but I think it would be hard to balance if they don't input some limitations.
And maybe they got more modelers this time! I really don't want to see 10 exact clones of myself as soon as I log in.
i could see female galka and male mithra in the sense of how WoW represents genders among the races. a female galka dosnt have to be some huge she hulk looking female body builder type. it just have to have some traits that link the male and female together. same goes for male mithra. a male mithra could totally look like a hume male but with a tail and shorter ears perhaps
There's weapon decay?
Yeah this might be a little hard to balance cause it would essentially turn it into a sub job system... Except you get to pick all the spells that are good from the entire job. Think of it like subbing a job and picking abilities higher than 37.
Better not be any weapon decay... Waste of money in WoW. ><;
yea the taru looks wack that blm how ever looks sick
Anyone else worried about how you are going to be able to view how powerful another player is without "levels"? I can just see me searching for a player for my last slot and needing a BLM, I /shout or /sea or w/e and I end up with a BLM who is a decent level THF but switched to his garbage BLM to join my team.
I'm having trouble expressing that thought but I think the method an MMO has for finding other players is very important and often overlooked. In wow they changed the method of finding players and grouping took a big hit for a while. Hopefully they figure this out.
I just really have a hard time grasping how a character doesn't have a level, and how that's going to effect grouping.
EDIT: Grouping AKA XPPT PTing etc..
Yeah you know what now that I think about it, I'd rather they have it so your current abilities are restricted by your current weapon/job. Let's say you equip a wand, that wand will make you into a illusionist and gives you an illusionist skill. You'll be able to use that skill and all your other Illusionist skills that you learned (and mastered) from other weapons and only those. So no skills from your fighter or whatever.
I hope they ditch subjobs.
The Lalafell are simply less of an evolutionary eye-sore. They look like they were actually born from something vaguely human, instead of a ham tied to a basketball.
They still have their pear-shape and cutesy look, they just look less ridiculous.
I'm honestly not, I was to begin with but I'm sure there will be some identifier to how 'skilled' you are at any profession or what not. It would be utterly ridiculous if they didn't let others see that and search by such, otherwise you'd have the equivalent of 75s going to merit with 2 20s tagging along, something that would so clearly funch the game that even though it IS SE, I can't see them letting that happen. There may not be 'levels' in terms of your character has a lvl, but I'm certain there will be skill lvls or something to denote how strong you are, otherwise there's little proof of progression aside from skills obtained.
Lalafel Sorcerers are going to look awesome. :O
I wonder if there will be 'artifact' armor sets for each type of job reminiscent of traditional FF job concepts (Black Mage, Red Mage, Summoner, etc.) like in FFXI, or if all sub classes in each main category (fighter, mage, gatherer) have access to identical gear based on the main category job (like all magic jobs can wear all Sorcerer-type gear.)
If I do try out FFXIV, I'm not sure if I want to go for Elvaan again, or try a Tarutaru this time.
