I see what you did thar
I guess by real time but not action based combat system they mean same as FFXI but hopefully (a lot) more advanced.
I kind of assumed a real-time type of strategy. I'd consider Aion a realtime action based combat (all you do is spam in that game back to back, so I guess spam=lots of 'interaction' and fast paced which = action?) so I read this as a very good thing. I'm really looking forward to a game where there is more strategy and less zomgkillitwithspam.
the weapon decay thing just sounds like weapons will need to be repaired after use, like in other games, etc
Hopefully the weapon decay will be something crafters can assist with, otherwise it'll be quite bothersome.
Yeah I liked that about FFXI, how strategic battles were. I just hope it's something like that, but more complex/bit faster paced/with less downtime.
Something interesting I noticed though, they said battles just won't consist of targeting a monster and attacking it. Many more things will come into play.
So you're in a party with a melee white mage and his staff breaks and he can't cure anymore.
It's ok, you brought yours, so your tank can switch to white mage. 's all good.
lol, but now he can be a more effective melee DD with his monk skillz
weapon decay (w/o repairs) could also mean people won't have the motivation to stay in aery for 4 years to get a weapon that breaks in 6 months.
w/ repair it means profit from nq synths, either through repairing or replacing.
my guess on the gender difference will be like ribbons in ffta2. the description on them says women only, but men could equip them if they learned the ribbon-wearer passive-trait. or it could be that a flute, for example, turns a man into a bard, but turns a woman into a dancer.
On the gria type horned-character vs hair ornament feathers speculation: Regarding the op comparison of painting's horned-character to the gatherer person carrying the axe.
While people are thinking perhaps those are feathers on his head, notice how the two ermine type patterns on the breast of the tunic are extremely similar in both shots. The collar decoration is also similar. Overall the tunic looks like an artist's representation of the tunic in the pic to me so I do think that is meant to be the same race or at the least, because of the different ear sizes, the same armor.
I love the HD name comparison to XI lands, very cool.
I like what they did with the Galka and Elvaan, kind of ambivalent on the "Lalafell", and they kind of made Mithra look like more generic catgirls. I'll probably roll Elvaan again, that one in the picture looks badass.
if vunkerl and la theine is reversed on the pic, it fits more.
To all the people who thought tarufells were bad, they could be worse...
