lol, ah that explains it
lol, ah that explains it
Finally.. a clearer scan of the supposed "horns" Lol.
I have no doubt a Gria like race may be introduced; but the fact that almost everyone was fixated on the feathers of that guys hat being horns was just, LOL.

It's fake but made me laugh
rofl @ "The story's so great, I didn't even realize I was playing online..." - Gamespot.com
The fake box cover actually looks somewhat nice.
Edit: I think someone stated in another thread that Illusionist actually means Evoker/Caller.
Btw guys FF11 frame rate sucked to be honest even if you had quad core/best graphic card on earth, the frame rate is locked to maximum 30 frame per second "ff11 engine fault"
I hope that they wont lock the frame rate in FFXIV i want the game to be super smooth.
The developers also have access to that small ram saved to create custom soundtracks/take screen shots of the game/etc
I would really like a source on this. When you port a game, you still need to use an engine that can run on the new console. The difference between games made multi or ported is specifically based on how that engine is optimized. FFXI was designed for the PS2, yes; however, the PC version is running a modified version of the PS2 engine that just isn't optimized to take advantage of the PC's power. The reason they never dropped the PS2 was because the work was already done. Why not just sell it if you have it. It has nothing to do with what engine it is running. All games are made on a PC that is running a development kit. I think you're confusing the PC version of FFXI being emulated, which i don't believe it is due to there being a X360 port.
Secondly, the XIV engine is the same engine that runs XIII if you're refering to development tools. In which case, they actually swapped engines mid run. if memory serves me right, they were using a 3rd party engine and decided to make their own engine "Crystal Tools". That is the engine powering all new FF's for the time being.
I would like a source for this also. PC games generally have a variety of texture variations that can accomodate a wide variety of systems versus the console. It all depends on the engine used and how it is configured. I honestly dont think you have any clue as to how games are actually made. I dont know anything about the Crystal Tools engine to say how it operates. There are two options for this, either the game is made for high end PC's and it automatically scales down settings when running on a PS3, or its made to run on PS3s with limits display options for the PC.
Huh? The reason the PS2 and even PC can't display all the people at once has nothing to do with NPC or PC. It also has zero to do on whether they all look the same. They all look the same to limit the amount of space and processing. It basically speeds up your FPS on the PS2. Having them all look the same can use one model instead of various ones. How many things are visibile at once is more based on the consoles/PC's graphical capabilities more then the connection required. Both of these just change how much information the server has to send. If its PC, then it needs to updated the location of everyone on the screen. If its NPC, it needs to send all the information on what they look like so your computer can pull and place the right image files.
FFXI actually used a very limited amount of bandwidth because everything was pretty much done client side. The server only needed to send character locations, which is minimal data. The reason people didn't see alot of characters on screen was more becasue of the PC's processing power rather then the connection used. Faster connections just remove lag between what is real and what you're seeing.
#1 i didn't say the game was emulated, it's engine is built for PS2, the FFXI you play on PC is a port from the PS2 version with few modification, even if they canceled the PS2 version the engine is still PS2 engine, recreating engine can take years and it's the same reason why many developers buy engines instead of creating one "For example lineage bought unreal engine" Aion bought cry engine etc, the xbox360 version is a port from the PS2 engine too "But since XBOX use pretty much the exact PC DIRECTX modified version which they already have" it was easy to port it since XBOX is a mini PC on console
The reason why there is no PS3 version of FFXI is because they can not port the XBOX360 version to the PS3 since PS3 does not use Directx system codes which mean they have to modify the engine AGAIN, which they wont do~ xbox360 version was easy and i explained why up~ PC modified version was already made
#2 you claim i have no idea how games are made then asap you say that you have no idea how the crystal tools work seriously? Crystal tools is the FFXIII/FF VERSUS XIII/XIV Engine it's scaled engine there is even freaking WII version of the same engine they didnt waste 3 years on that engine for nothing and i explained how FFXI was limited by the ps2 engine, for FFXIV this is not an issue there is different engine build for each version and yes it will scale down things for weaker systems
#3 learn to read? i did not say connection is all what needed to display many characters on screen, this is graphical/cpu power related the connection thingy was about the online part i was talking about FFXI freaking 56KB connection limit can not display everything on screen even if the engine support it, there is a different between displaying 40-60 character on screen and displaying 10.000 character on screen online , not possible with 56KB connection so before you say your none sense try to understand what are we talking about first
"Old consoles can't because they are not strong enough" which means the systems were weak "Process and graphical power" so i have no idea why you are playing smart ass here
Guys, quit trolling Seph. I'd rather read more FFXIV stuff and less fanboy nonsense.
I would, but the stuff he is spouting off is ridiculous and untrue. Especially since he contradicts himself in his own posts. Half the stuff he say's isn't applicable to his point but he tries to sound as if he's an expert on it. All you really need is simple understanding of how the games works. People end up reading it an believe it ...
OK i have no idea what I'm talking about. Happy?
Lets stick to FFXIV
Final Fantasy XIV director is the same director of
Final Fantasy Tactics
Tactics ogre
Vagrant Story
Final Fantasy XII "Doesn't really count since he toke the project when it was almost over~ old director left"
So everyone should not expect the normal jobs i guess
If anyone is familiar with the games i listed jobs would be something like
Archer
Berserker
Chemist
Fighter
Gunner
Geomancer
Knight
Magic Knight
Solider
Time mage
Wizard "Black-White"
Assassin
Dancer
etc
You can sub "abilities" so main/sub job is possible
I said let it go but people like you refuse to do so, cele is speaking out from his ass and accusing me with his none sense and he like what 2 posts in this forum and both are against me
You want wall of text sure
The PlayStation 3 has 256mb of GDDR3 at 700mhz and 256Mb of XDR at 3.2ghz. So what exactly is XDR ram? Here are some of the highlights:
- XDR makes PS3 super effiecient
- XDR aids in faster cache mapping, both direct and indirect
- XDR ram works by a pointer to pointer technology and needs very small buswidth for execution
- XDR is not just faster than GDDR3 but it is much more efficient
- XDR RAM works by breaking down data into several packets which prevents data loss and exceptions
The Rambus XDR™ memory architecture is a total memory system solution that achieves an order of magnitude higher performance than today’s standard memories while utilizing the fewest ICs. Perfect for compute and consumer electronics applications.
The PS3 has two times as much cache at 2x the speed, making it way faster for direct/indirect mapping. Not only that but it has 512k of L1 cache + 1.7m of L2 cache for the 7 spes. The PS3’s GPU, RSX was made to work with the Cell processor, it is not some GPU they took and slotted in. It is made to be compatible with the Cell.
More RAM does not mean a faster system it means more data can be stored in a fast access area. Games don't always need 512mb of RAM.
The RSX can freely use as much of the 512MB total RAM that the PS3 has because the Cell doesn't need much RAM because its fast enough. And the fact that the PS3 has XDR means that it has faster access to data files.
A lot of people are saying that the RSX only has 256mb of RAM, whereas the 360's GPU has 512MB of RAM. To make it sound a bit simpler, here's the real deal. The PS3 has it's RAM in two separate parts, 256MB for the RSX and 256MB that can be used be either the Cell or RSX.
Really hopeful that you only need to change classes to LEARN new abilities from weapons/equipment, but there will be an Ability Point system that allows you to use them while you're on any job. But at this point I'm not overly optimistic about it. I expect to see something more along the lines of dress spheres. i.e., needless hitches in what could be a fluid character customization system. i.e., bleh.
Not gonna start an off topic argument, they have access to each other's memory banks, go ahead and do some research. If you have trouble finding it PM me and I will give you links with factual information.
Spoiler: show
they have access to each other's memorypm me if you need it bolded harderIt has access to 256MB of dedicated local DDR3 memory. It also has access system memory
so I remember this video from way back when, SE said it was showing off a new MMO they were working on. could this be an early video from one of this cities in FFXIV?
I'm sorry I can't post a link because I'm new but I was wondering if anyone could be not lazy and check it out. it's on you tube look up "Square-Enix E3 2005 Untitled MMORPG Tech Demo"
