so I remember this video from way back when, SE said it was showing off a new MMO they were working on. could this be an early video from one of this cities in FFXIV?

I love the current Taru race we have, but they're a bit too small and round to be taken seriously.

Also, the Galka look a lot better this time around. XD

So it was supposed to be FFXIV I couldn't tell because I could never find any stills but I thought the character models looked at the very least like FFXI.

Really hopeful that you only need to change classes to LEARN new abilities from weapons/equipment, but there will be an Ability Point system that allows you to use them while you're on any job. But at this point I'm not overly optimistic about it. I expect to see something more along the lines of dress spheres. i.e., needless hitches in what could be a fluid character customization system. i.e., bleh.

If google is translating the french text right, and the french translated the magazine right, then ... Each skill is associated with one or more pieces of equipment. To train a certain skill, you will have to carefully think about your gear.

Though, this really doesn't clarify if you can use it outside the job. This might imply that certain weapons have abilities to them that can be used with the same weapon type and you have to learn them from weapons/armor rather then scrolls. Pick up a wand for Cure I and you can either need to level the skill before you can use it(maybe weapons also have classes. I.e. wands go healers / staves go mages, so that you can use the skill when you swap to a diff weapon of the same type) or you have to have the weapon equiped to use it and it levels up with use?

They really have alot of options with this system; in the end it boils down to how well they implement it.

I don't know why, but this reminds me of leveling up Blue Mage in FFXI. they have to use their ability in order for you to learn the spell lol

I agree with the XII part. I really enjoyed the armor/technology of XII and glad to see similar in XIV.

I noticed a trademark two left foot pointy boots on the harvester. I notice this in some of the models of FFXI boots.
Just realized that the Elzen also just happens to be looking to the right again. Now if one heel is slightly off of the ground when standing on even terrain...
