I'm slowly warming up to the new Tarus. I'm hoping there will be male Mithra, but I bet they're just holding back some info since there were already two males on the old website's artwork.

the zone screens look in-game, and the image with the mage class with his back turned, standing in front of the tent, but those images of the individual characters and the mugshots are most probably not in-game renders. they might be using the engine but the game versions will be scaled down a lot in the polygon count area

I agree. FFXIV is using tons of FFXI visual references. Almost all of the armors are straight out of FFXI with more detail. Even the the figher's plate armor looks like that white plate armor with gold trim from FFXI. The staff that old sorceror is using looks identical to a staff in FFXI. Even the zones we've seen so far have been more detailed prettier versions of FFXI zones.

It is all very pretty and I am sure I'll play, but still...

I think they had the idea "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory. would visuals alone stop you though from trying it?
