You can turn off names in WoW as easily as you can in FFXI.

WoW is the McDonalds of MMOs their priority is getting the product out fast/stable. Make sure it doesn't crash but don't worry about artistic integrity, they don't have to they are making money hand over fist without having to worry about that.

WoW UIs that you see on screenshots from Google also depend on what addons people use. There's a huge difference between my UI and my boyfriend's, just based on what we like to see when we're raiding/questing.

WoW is a lot more cartoony but I don't think it's bad. Some of the areas in WoW are beautiful in a cartoon way.

And that's the thing Rowe, people will take a less visual appeal for a game if the content comes out fast and stable. I look forward to doing a new raid instance every couple months on WoW, where as in FFXI I spent 5 years camping the same fucking mobs every day.

If a game looking like a cartoon is what it tastes to get actual content in a MMO, I'll play it any day.

Like some people said earlier, they would rather SE spend more time on armor/weapons than giving you customization for your character. A lot of people who played FFXI are coming to this game, and I'm sure they are expecting SE to fix a lot of mistakes they made in FFXI and to improve on the game as a whole. 7 years later, I would hope character customization would be a lot better. As much as guys cling to the "Yes I play a chick character so I can stare at her ass all day" I don't see how you can complain about being able to customize that ass the way you want it, but that's just me.

EDIT: Yes Cartoony does not mean bad at all. I enjoy a lot of the way a lot of zones look in WoW. I honestly thought that Age of Conan with all it's unneeded crap looked like a polished dog turd, and that's playing with a top end PC. It's all a matter of taste. Do you really think someone who wants a rainbow haired taru really gives a shit about out of place colors? lol

FF11 dynamis bad pull with biggest link i ever saw and MODDED fugly names? game on low settings plus i cant even read the text the screen quality is awful i think no one can tops that

You're correct. It's personal preference some people like the cartoony look and feel and say gameplay is the more important aspect to WoW than the visuals. The visuals are a vehicle to the gameplay and many people prefer the gameplay of WoW.

I prefer FFXI and am excited for FFXIV. I prefer realism to cartoony.

WoW must be doing something right, it is the biggest MMO, the King. What it's appeal is... I don't know it's lost on me. I've played it and quit and played again and quit. Same for me with FFXI but when I quit FFXI I miss it.

If you play WoW and enjoy it, keep doing it. Everyone is entitled to their fun.

My point is that you can make a UI look horrible like in your screenshots, and you can have a horrible looking garble of names in FFXI too. Stop getting butthurt because I'm playing the same game you are. I know you'd love to post trash screenshots of WoW and make people think that's what the game really looks like, and I can do the same thing about FFXI. In the end they both have their flaws. I quit FFXI for it's flaws and I won't be playing WoW much longer because of its, just waiting for Aion/FF14/The Old Republic. The sooner you realize that they are different, the better off you'll be.

FFXI is a console based MMO with a set UI in a realistic world.
WoW is a PC based MMO with a completely alterable LUA code in a cartoon world.

This started off with me fucking around with Priran about triangle feet, but people wanted to have a pissing match, and I might be chick but my dick is still bigger than yours.

Hard as it is for me to admit this, I agree. In reality though I would prefer a much more polished version of XI's. Or something completely new just not some run of the mill MMO UI.

I hope they don't use the same or a similar UI to FFXI. And if they were to copy anything from what WoW has done I would pray that it's to allow users to make addons/UIs. Although the chances or this happening are slim to none, we can still hope can we? I honestly think if FFXI allowed the use/creation of addons it would be like a totally different game... you think the Windower and its plugins are badass? You aint seen shit. :/

you posted a screenshot with wow UI kept at minimum with the help of mods in raid with no enemies at screen and pretty much no people other than you and someone else at the screen yet it still look fugly, you can't accept the fact the many people can not stand wow UI-game design that's your problem not mine, i have no problem with people who think FF11 is a bad game because it's subjective.

FFXI have it flaws but having ugly UI and out of place names/characters is not one
