    Finally got around to messing with the Miqo'te.psd Rowe posted a few pages back. Combined the blue hair and green eyes I liked from the ones he posted. Well, the blue wasn't in the file, so I had to do that. Took me a bit to figure out how to use the Channels.. >>;

Pretty much what I'd shoot for if we're able to color the hair like that. Definitely want a different hairstyle. If I could get the blue a little lighter/brighter by a tad, too.

Hmm, I think I made to Layer Groups with all the parts for the Chocolate Miqo'tes and the Blue Miqo'tes, those had visibility turned off. But I may have in the 1st day frenzy done a lot of re-coloring of the layers I made. To make the hair lighter you can throw a copy of the blond hair layer under your blue, you might have to play with the opacity of the layers. Playing around a lot is the best though, I actually had more fun in Photoshop this weekend than playing any games.

Take the BLond Hair Layer drag it to the new layer icon (bottom of the layers palette button to the left of the trash can) Rename it White or Gray Hair. Change the layer mode to Normal and the Opacity to 100% then press cmd+u click on colorize option, drag the saturation slider all the way to the left, you should have gray hair, now hit OK then go to Image->Adjustments->Brightness/Contrast and slide the brightness to around +50 and the contrast to around +30. this will give you a layer of hair you put above the Miqo'tes to neutralize her original hair and make it easier for you to get the colors you want.

I was really hoping for no mithras. I hate them with a passion and blame them for everything wrong in the world, real or make believe.

No voice acting please; there's no way any decent voice actors would be available to play roles for various updates over like 6 years. At least not at a reasonable cost. A narrator element for main story cutscenes could maybe work though, if implemented well.

If there is no voice acting perhaps narration, I know a lot of the time I play while watching TV or listening to music sometimes making reading cutscenes distracting. So having a voice read the cutscene dialog would be nice.

That was the 1st one I worked on, I am going to go back and clean that one up make it better and post a link when done. I'm kind of embarrassed with how sloppy that one is.

The guy who did the intro to FFXI would be a good narrator, in my opinion.

No voice acting, it would probably take a lot of space that could be used for other things. Besides that, it would just slow down the whole process. Instead of doing something (like new missions), they would have to write it, translate it, get voice actors and record it. Doing that for two different languages along with having certain people reprise their roles later on it just doesn't make sense. Not to mention that it would cost more money for something that doesn't matter.

That and people take long enough reading the cut scenes, could you imagine the wait if they opted to listen to them as well?

Personally if there is voice acting (which I wouldn't object to if done correctly) then I would at least like the option of which language the audio is in.

Soul calibur is a good example. Call it weeaboo if you must, but Japanese voice actors are generally more convincing and put more effort into the realism.

But again, so long as the voice acting is done well, I wouldn't be against it.
(Unless they force a voice on your own character. Silent protagonist > Forced irritating out of place voice.)

Voice acting is an easy task and not as complicated as you think, plus it does not cost much "There is many long offline rpgs were the series does not even sell 100k copy yet voice acting is in there"

And space? who cares ps3 use blu ray 50GB disc~ and PC you can just install the game

People who cares about cut scenes would love to have the option, people who don't want voice acting can always skip the whole thing or disable it and use subtitles.

I would be disappointed if there was no voice acting in FFXIV, for 2010 game this is not acceptable specially when games like oblivion can voice act every npc/mission/story in a world that was as big as vanadiel itself.

I'm all for voice acting. I just hope that like most English VAs we've seen lately (lookin at you SO4/TLR/etc) it doesn't suck ass. I also do not want to hear any of the JP stereotypical voices: whiny/emo hero, helpful/stupid heroine, childish/annoying/kay.

I'd be dissapointed if there was no voice acting. These next-gen MMOs that are supposed to be story driven, one of the main reasons I did like FFXI, it is something that needs to be done. Games like SW:TOR are going to have full voice acting for the entire game, I don't see why Square can't do it as well.

As for cost? It's fucking Square-Enix ffs.

I agree that The Last Remnant had some good voice acting, some of it was absolutely perfect for the character it protrayed.

Yeah I can't wait to hear those 3 different actors trying to do 3 different voice styles a piece and then having to hear them every time I talk to any of the thousands of suddenly bipolar NPCs that will be in the game. I'd prefer text where every individual NPC can say whatever with it's own personality, rather than the same 20- hell even 50 generic VO responses from a guy that sounds exactly like the other guy I just talked to down the street who sounds exactly like one of the main characters trying to disguise his voice.

If FFXIV does get massive VO like that horrible crap in Oblivion... I'll probably just do what I did with XI after the first year of hearing the same music over and over... and over and over and over... and just play with the sound turned off and my stereo on.

I think voice acting in an MMO, esp. a story driven one, is problematic. The NPCs would never be able to 'speak' your character name (since names vary and are not given as some single player RPGs do). Its nice to see people saying "Its 'so-n-so', the great hero!" etc as you progress through the story. Can't voice that (yet).
