How about we just talk about FFXIV? Seph made some stupid posts but he's actually the OP to the thread, so it wasn't a total waste.

On topic of races, there's been lots of banter about male mithra/female Galka.

Just on the basis that male vs. female has been stated by a dev to make a difference in stats or some other significant way, wouldn't it make sense from a balance perspective to have both genders of that race?

I know the counter argument is that male Galka/Roegadyn go with female mithra/Miqo'te, but if they carry over stat similarities from FFXI, that doesn't really make sense, since Galka and Mithra were really far apart in how their stats were allocated.

Before I mentioned that in Weekly Famitsu, there was nothing mentioned about a stats difference between female and male characters. In Dengeki PlayStation, they only say that whether there will be additional playable races or if there will be a difference in stats between male and female characters has not yet been announced. In other words, there is nothing to worry about and Dengeki PlayStation probably could have worded that better so that it didn’t start baseless rumors. We haven’t seen anything like that in FFXI and given how many times they’ve said they want character design to be flexible so that people create a character they truly want to play with, I doubt there will be a difference in FFXIV as well.

Yeah it was posted earlier in this thread, seemed pretty decent in my opinion. I'm sure SE can do better, but fact remains that it is feasible without looking totally awful.

I honestly hope that the stats between males and females are not different... I mean I like playing mages and if that is the difference between males and females, then its gonna be males = more STR AGI DEX and females = more INT MND and CHR...I'm probably gonna play lalafell specifically because its more than likely going to be the best mage race so... i don't want to have to play female to have the very best stats. I'm wondering if maybe the difference between males and females is that maybe armor will look drastically different between the two even more so than in FFXI

Mithra have babies with the male mithra, according to the FFXI story there aren't that many male mithra and they dont really leave their home continent. Galkas are asexual and when one dies it is reincarnated.
