Ok, using my SUPER SLEUTH POWERS (SSP), I have found the reason why this thread has derailed into retarded banter.
Note that Kilhart does not like the way WoW looks. This was seconded by Averrinicus. Thirded by Omniyoji. Seph complains about how they look, thus creating a concrete foundation on how WoW looks like shit. At this point the opinions should have ceased. Mistress agrees with Seph. Aksannyi likes purple hair and decided to stick with WoW. Nowhere in Aksannyi's post says anything about liking WoW models.
WoW bashing secedes, but questions arise:
This is the first time WoW is introduced to compare to FFXIV. Other comments were in regards to FFXI.
Here is how it spun out of control for no reason:
Note that he was not saying all of WoW looked good, but that with an expansion the races got better.
Now, the first time a WoW picture came into play was:
Note here that even Seph found the original character models looked good (but from CG point of view) yet thought they looked ugly. This statement was to correct the previous statement by Kilhart that the new races looked good.
Also note that I did not include the other four images used because they were redundant and did not add context to the post.
Silverbreeze decides to compare FFXI screenshots to WoW screenshots and declare how these pictures can look deceiving and vice versa. Debacle about how screenshots are compressed and taken at low specs which distort the way the game actually looks. This further solidfies that screenshots are deceiving and is not adding to the context of the opinion debate.
Note, that in two pages there has not been ONE positive comment about WoW, and there have been negative comments from more than ten users actively posting in the thread.
High Res screenshots of FFXI are posted in thread. They look beautiful. God I hate people with great computers...err ehem, back to SSPing.
For some reason Seph thinks he is being attacked or someone is doubting him, so he decides to post (cleaned up):
Nothing of value was posted. There was no need for this post. Looking at the data from a couple pages, there needed no clarification of the subject matter on how CG art looks different than in-game graphics.
The worst part about this post is that Seph decided to include shitty UI screenshots of WoW and compare those to FFXI. Also: SHADOW FUCKING MANTLE!!!
Further posts pick on how shitty of a UI the WoW players were using.
Silverbreeze retorts with a screenshot that has a very minimal UI for raiding in WoW. This has nothing to do with how shitty WoW is, but that some people decide to use shitty UIs.
Silverbreeze also retorts with an equally shitty/clustered FFXI screenshot. Note that the situation only happens in one area at one certain time. The image was just to show that FFXI
CAN get clustered as much as WoW can.
Note also that up until now there have been no positive comments about WoW.
Silverbreeze enjoying new raid content (has to do with gameplay and not graphics) is the first sign of positivity for WoW. Also adds her
opinion on why she likes the cartoony effects of WoW.
Seph decides that Silverbreeze is ridiculing him on his screenshots so decides to throw in his own comments.
Note that this entire time we were talking about graphics, even Seph had said so in his last quote (broken down below). Now we are talking about game design? I'm sorry but Seph,
YOU are the reason this has gotten out of hand.
The two sentences, along with what Seph had said earlier contradict each other. Seph wanted to prove that the CG art looked better than the in-game graphics, so he posted the results (twice). The first time was with shitty settings and the second he tried to pound the idea into the ground with "best looking" graphics.
No one was saying FFXI sucked (Silverbreeze made the comment about camping the same thing for 5 years and how WoW has new content every so often) or WoW was superior.
YOU instigated that. There was no hint of insecurity at all in Silverbreeze's comments. I know this because I have an education and understand social interactions both written and spoken. The only person "dying" was Silverbreeze, and I put that in quotes because the only thing she commented on was the UI screenshot that you DID NOT need to post, you even said it yourself. You included more than the Blood Elf picture.
You should take your own advice. The reason gameplay became an issue was because you added a useless image that included a clustered UI. Rowe and Silverbreeze commented on it and how they vary greatly from player to player. Silverbreeze then gave her opinion on WoW.
We had been talking about graphics from the very beginning, then you say we aren't, now you say we are. Note that this is all in one page. No one was even talking about game play of WoW until you thought it got brought up (which it never did).
Silverbreeze later tries to explain her post without getting offensive.
SURE SOUNDS LIKE SHE LOVES WOW. Note, Silverbreeze enjoys Triangle Feet.
Seph goes on to believe that he posted the best screenshots of WoW (perhaps after looking at the first two pages of Google). This argument is highly unsound for lack of variety/information.
Setsuko firmly plants the argument into the ground with a cast-iron stake and 12lb sledge by posting a WoW raid with a UI that 98% of WoW players use.
This answers all of Seph's complaints on why Silverbreeze's screenshots should be nullified for comparison's sake.
However, since the players look like ants then the screenshot proves nothing. Apparently nothing can appease Seph. Most of the rest of the post has been repeated talking points by Seph. No value posted.
Setsuko drops the word troll on Seph. First time used in the investigation.
None of this happened. If you think it did, look through pages 30 and 31. The term troll has now been solidified in Seph's vocabulary. Everything said about WoW has been an opinion and never opressed FFXI people because guess what, everyone that still posts outside of the WoW subforums still plays or has some sliver of fondness for FFXI.
If you have read up until now you will find that this comment is false. I don't need to explain.
Akiyama tries to simmer the fire that is starting to rage.
