i don't know why this thread was made when they announced no experience points THE SECOND DAY OF E3
Also, I'm sad @ Eorzea being smaller than Vana'diel. Part of what made me like Vana'diel so much was there was so much OF it. I also don't like living in 'regions'- while I guess in an MMORPG sense its a great idea (unlimited expansion potential), speaking in terms of other RPG's where you're limited to one small area of the world, it just feels cramped, and very linear.. like you aren't allowed to go elsewhere.
Long as the battle system is like Tri-Aces', I'll look into getting it. But if it's deadly similar to FFXI then i'll stick with my 6 year character.
Reading comprehension at an all time lowI know
Hai-de-rin yo!
So the "Tanaka & Komoto E3 Interview Footage" is now gone off youtube. Anyone know of a possible DL link or working video?
Am I being whooshed here or do people really REALLY not read?Eorzea is a region. Haiderin is the world.
WHOOSH - No, not really. Just hard to tell what exactly your point of view was since what you said could've gone either way.
Anyways to think that Eorzea would be as big or bigger than Vana'diel upon its release is ridiculous. You have to take into account that when people say the world of Vana'diel they mean all the zones from every expansion. As long as its as big as FFXI: RoTZ on release that is fine with me.
Except they've stated it will take place in Eorzea.. idk. I've been lead to believe that the 'base' of the game will be that region. I guess its a moot point though, as people have stated, as they'll simply add in more areas in upcoming expansions. I guess its not much different from FFXI at release
Um, no?
Nothing was ever confirmed. Hence why Joystiq themselves even bothered posting the article. While most of it was rehashed news, it was stated that it has been confirmed there will be no leveling of characters involved with FFXIV.
Actually, maybe I created this thread just to piss you off? Sarcasm aside, I really hope this thread didn't ruin your day Xopher.
dunno how this is like FFIX, if anyone has played FF II it sounds exactly like that if anything
everyone keeps comparing the system to FF9, but SE may come up with another system. Until they explain it don't get too excited for or against said system.
I really liked IX's system, but I think it only really worked well with an offline game. Im sure SE is creative enough to come up with something that would work well in an online game. It would drive me up the wall if on an application I had to fill out 50 lines of what abilities Ive learned previously.
I'm looking forward to more information.
Like others have said, it being a region does not make it smaller than Vana'diel. I would truly hope that there is at least as much of the world as there is in XI. That being said, XI's world was much smaller than a game like WoW's, it only seemed larger because of the inherent danger in the world and lack of easy to use/obtain travel options.
The way they worded this "announcement" only makes me believe they did indeed learn a bit from XI. In XI, we were presented with Vana'diel as a complete world only to be given new areas tagged onto areas in weird and nonsensical ways. We were even given a completely new continent (that we never saw the entirety of) in Aht Urghan. They even spent the entirety of CoP speaking of another "kingdom" which we have never seen. In short, SE wants to start off the "lore" of the game by saying, this is not the entire planet. Instead of having to add stuff stupidly. Cause if you are like me, you never really appreciated how they added the TAU areas.
We don't level "characters", we level "weapons and armor"? This is how I am reading it currently.
