This is debatable we had a whole thread about how higher education is an industry and colleges and university's are businesses and have to be run as such to survive. Though there was lots of good debates on both sides of the fence.

On topic, Frannie Mae screwed me on my college loan interest rates once I graduated. Suddenly jumping from about 5.5% to 11.25% really pissed me off. There wasn't a whole lot I could do at that point either, since all the other loan companies started tightening their loaning policies at that time too.

Um... school's are very much companies. Companies that are partially funded by state and federal grants. So before you try to take that tone with people in the thread, at least have some basic knowledge of the bullshit you spew out of your mouth.

Another example btw. My mom, in her infinite wisdom, bought me a laptop when I graduated high school. It was great to get such a nice gift from my normally stingy parents, but she did not consult me at all and knows nothing about computers. Thing was fucking huge, but couldn't actually do shit. I try to take it back unopened and they won't take it. Fine whatever. I use it for two weeks, and the cooling fans break, causing the damn thing to half melt. I take it in, they replace everything except the fans. I take it in again, making sure they know about the fans. Once more the fans are unrepaired. Repeat this 6-7 times over the sourse of two years until the warranty runs out.

My friends have a whole corp dedicated to making money. One hasn't had to pay real money for any of his 4 accounts in over a year.

Any sort of DSL/internet service. Payed 50bucks/mo from like 01 to 07 or so for super slow service before I realized people on THE SAME NETWORK (earthlink) were paying less for faster speeds. I switched to fios and havn't looked back.

I kind of feel bad, because CCP is awesome. But they aren't hurting for money at all, so I'm sure the $300-400 I owe them won't be noticed.

Not trying to evederail thread but the same friend has paid at various times for his 4 accounts plus 3 accounts of various friends. He almost got them all banned due to a glitch. He was swapping through characters and accounts checkign skills etc, and 3 of them had rookie channel access. He switches over to one which shouldn't, sees a question and answers it. That character should not have been able to access the channel so the GMs or whatever were saying that he was a hacker, and that all accounts linked to him (so all 7 he had ever made payments on) would be banned. Fortunately he was able to show them that it was a glitch and whatnot, as he had been flipping through the accounts, and they just gave him a 3-day ban since he should have known better than to type in rookie.

Since this went as far as going to a debt collector, you might want to get a credit report to make sure it did not show up there too. And get a letter from AT&T that the account is closed and you don't owe anything in case you need to clear it up with a credit company.

i have a letter coming from at&t and the debt collector on the way. great minds think alike, eh?
