at $299 I might not be able to pass this one up.

Then again I'm really cheap, and have held off upgrading my 360 hard drive to the big one for well over a year. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a system where I could download old ps1/ps2 games that I really liked, instead of buying a ps2 and tracking down decently priced versions of those games.

IMHO, a matte finish would be nice. I hate gloss finishes on systems, makes you smudge the shit out of it if you touch it even the slightest while doing anything. (Hi2u New DSi)

I'm glad I bought my PS3 before they dropped the PS2 support, but with the PS2 at a cheap price for slims it's not a huge deal. Also, the price drop should make the PS3 sell much better as the FF debut approaches in the spring. I hope SONY actually starts advertising that you can replace the stock HDD with any 5400/7200 RPM SATA 2.5'' Drive (250 gb WD Scorpio, fuck yea). That's the other thing I love about my PS3, no stupid price for mediocre storage (--> Microsoft). D:

They are most likely going to introduce the PS3 slim, I just hope they don't dish out that model that OP posted because man that is fugly aside from matte finish, I love matte finish.

Man, for that size I'd be dead afraid standing it vertically without a large-ass base, but that would defeat the slim purpose of the system.

Isn't PS3 development cost down to about $240/console? If no slim, there should at the very least be a price cut. (Edit: Nvm didnt see earlier post about the price drop at FYE)

$299 for the 120GB Slim is honestly ok with me, but IIRC the PS2slim wasn't cheaper when it was released... I remember paying more than usual for some reason.

Edit: Wow did anybody know about these US exclusive controller colorways? Sony is really making a comeback from this retarded console war.

If the PS3 slim is going to be the same price as the 80GB version after the price cut I think I'm going to wait a bit more. My purchase is mostly hinging on whether I like FF14 or if White Knight Chronicles really lives up to how awesome it looks. I just need couple more exclusives to make me warrant the purchase.
