my fat ps3 just died. well the blue-ray part. fuck i feel sad.
Anyone here having problems with background downloads? since the firmware 3.0 i can't play game and download stuff in at the same time, all the items i have in download management goes to pending and it doesn't go back to download until i quit the game. I don't know if the question is clear enough I will try to rephrase it if u guys don't understand.
I only find games will background download if the game in question has absolutely nothing to do with online connectivity.
(that includes games with a multiplayer component also even if you're only playing single. Makes playing Rock Band a bitch since you can't play it while you download new DLC for it)
One more question - what are my options for connecting a PS3 to my TV as far as cables go? Right now my TV has...
Component In (5 cables, 2 are Audio, three are labeled PR PB and Y) - this is being used by my Wii.
AV In (Standard Red/White/Yellow... being used by my PS2)
HDMI In 1 - Being used by my Cable Box
HDMI In 2 - Unused
PC In - Unused
Basically, it comes down to this... can PS3 use HDMI? Or would I be better off using the Component Cables for PS3, and the AV In cables for my Wii? I also have a VHS/DVD combo, but that's probably irrelevant since I have a PS2 and plan on a PS3. Still, I think the PS2 sucks at playing DVDs.
Awesome, thank you!

EDIT: Wtf, post fucked up.
So, according to a supposed "reliable" source, 3.10 will be hitting some time in Oct and will be introducing cross-game voice chat, which will use the XMB and will be universally available to all games. Whether or not this is a party based chat system or just 1-on-1 isn't known yet. Good news if true. I'm guessing this update will fix the gray bars people have been complaining about also, as Sony said they were working on that.
I guess that means EA quit QQ'ing about about how shitty their in-house PS3 games are implemented.
Slight necro, but more info just released.
Rumor: PS3 cross-game chat in next firmware update
NaughtyDog staff member let it slip, it has since been deleted but the quote was:
Looks like 3.10 will be implementing some sort of cross-game voice chat. Here's to hoping that a good amount of people can use it like a chat room and not just 1-on-1 chat, and that voice messaging will be implemented also."I think they wanted people to have fun and ejoy the show since all dead players can talk to each other no matter what team you are on. But I will suggest it anyway. Not to mention that the next PS3 firmware update is going to allow cross game chat. So if players use that instead of in game communication then they would also be able to communicate enemies positions."
I want to burn a PS2 game so i can play it in my PS3
I am gonna burn it using TOAST Titanium but does someone know if this should work if the game has copy protection or something?
Does someone know a way to do this?
PS3 has copyright protection for PS2 games, and good luck finding a way to get around that when modders have still yet to get burned PS3 games to work.
Burning blu-ray discs sounds like a bitch and a half to do.
Also, a nintendo rep was telling me yesterday about a 250gig PS3 thats supposed to drop in November. Anyone able to confirm if thats true?
Edit: nvm, top link of google
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2481/...2e9b1e2ccb.jpgToday, we announced the availability of a new PS3 system with a 250GB hard drive hitting store shelves on November 3. The PS3 250GB system has the same slim look, feel and features as the 120GB system, but with a 250GB built-in hard drive for $349.99. With the new, larger capacity, you’ll have even more room to store your favorite games, movies/TV shows, music, photos and PlayStation Network downloads.
Interesting 349.99. Only Fifty dollars more than a 120 or Xbox Elite. Shame it doesnt come with a game though.
total waste of money
Buy two wires, and a mehcanical switch, open up your PS3, look for the eject mechanism, splice or replace the wires to the eject mechanism so you can force eject mid-game.
Congratulations, you can now play burned PS2 games.
Additionally, Free-McBoot works on BC PS3s. You just need to put in a legit game first.
