software emulation models still had some of the hardware in them, the new ones have none
they didnt just take it out because there was no cost to it and they wanted to, they took it out to save them money, they wont and cant just "patch" it in
What I mean is, if they have developed their software emulation in the PS3 slim to the point where it doesn't require emotion engine hardware. If they put effort into coding the emulator for the PS3, it shouldn't. I'm not saying that they have, just that it sounds feasible for the company that made both systems to emulate the older one on the newer with the inside knowledge they have on both. The inclusion of hardware in the original PS3s for PS2 emulation purposes I thought I had read was a shortcut to get that feature included, as development time for software emulation would not have been ready for release.
the systems with software emulation still require some of the hardware, the new models have none of it, thus they wont have emulation, ever.
what your saying they can patch is basically like a patch that makes wii games run on the 360
Launch PS3's had Emotion chips inside for hardware compatibility. The later software emulation, used software to emulate the Emotion engine, but still had the graphics synthesizer inside the PS3. That isn't to say they can't emulate the graphic synthesizer also, as it is entirely possible, as we know because there are PS2 emulators on the PC. I have no idea if it is possible on the PS3 though.
Exactly, im not saying that they will be doing this, just that it's possible. The hardware in the PS3 should be able to render and do the same job the hardware in the PS2 did without requiring a redundant chip only used for PS2 emulation purposes.
I wasn't saying they just took it out for no reason, I was just saying it was put in to deliver on a promise for release, and it was taken out to cut the losses they had on every system at that point.
just like vista/7 should be able to run every windows 95 game if they just patch it! right? right?

Yeah I hope they explain right now! Here we fucking go fucking hypppe.
IGN blogger makes me want to kill myself
Ack gotta start out with the info no one cares about. Fuck this VidZone and SingStar shit. Wheres the sauce?! lol
Edit: oooo digital comics![]()
Awww yeah! I've been waiting for this. Ars Technica reported rumors of the slim and/or price cuts back in May so I'm excited to see it come true. I'm not too worried about backwards compatibilty though because I have a brand new PS2 slim boxed up ready to go if I ever want to play any of my PS2 games and if it lasts as long as my first PS2 (which was an original from launch that finally started to show it age w/ DREs last year) I should be fine since PS2 emulation for PC should be close to if not perfected by then.
Not that I've found no. :/
