Yeah, I wouldn't push it much past a 1280x720 window with low settings using that card if you want the game to be at all playable... ><

Well I decided if it's the card that's causing the problems (Testing it this weekend in Skyrim since that's the game that I can always get the display corruption to happen. Whereas in TF2/XIV it's completely random) I'm just going to spend 150 dollars on another 6800 series. I wouldn't mind a GeForce GTX 470, but not sure if I can justify spending ~200 dollars on a card that seems to be slightly better.
Any chance you can tell me the settings you have? Installed the card this afternoon and confirmed it was my old card that was causing the problems. Fan had a shitload of dust clogging it, but still sure there's something else that was the cause of it. This was happening over a year ago so it had to be more than that.
Just bought a new PC solely to try this game. Thought I bought a good one so I could run it at max specs but it seems to lag a little like the frame rate skips from time to time. Now I know next to nothing about PCs and just went to this local PC shop downtown and he built me one. Heres the specs.
Windows 7-64 bit
Core i7-2600k Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz LGA1155 Quad-Core 32nm Processor
8 gig Corsair Dominator DDR3 1333MHz
Geforce GTX560 Ti 1GB
Seagate 500GB Sata HD
Asus P8H6a-M 3.0 socket motherboard
Thermaltake Smart 620W power
Just ran the benchmark and scored 4325 load time 19165MS
http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/range/destroyer.html got this last tuesday plays FFXIV on full spec only lag i get is from the trading search (because that's no excuse for a crappy AH!) 14 and SWTOR look amazing with this
How much did he charge you? The RAM leaves a bit to be desired. I'd have opted for a better card and perhaps a cheaper CPU, maybe an i3. But I did that because I intend to upgrade my CPU if the next set from Intel provides a substantial upgrade from the Sandy Bridge architecture.
I can't say for certain, but Ivy Bridge seems a bit underwhelming in comparison to Sandy. Maybe it is a good idea to invest in a beefier Sandy CPU until Haswell comes out next year. Err, at the same time, can I warrant a pricier CPU than my i3 for a year's worth of us;sage? *rubs chin*

Just under 1,000? Ugh, the guy definently profited off this build he did for you. You could have had the same PC for several hundred dollars less. Did he charge you 200-300 USD to build this computer?
Uguu, well, I typically put my own computers together. Mine cost me about $500 to build. With the i7 and the 560 Ti, mine would have been about 650 to 700 USD. I opted for a Radeon card and an i3 processor because I couldn't personally warrant spending more than I did on a CPU so far into it's life cycle. Your computer is okay. Look into building your own though. Seems scary, but it's easy if you pay attention to what you're getting and what you need.
EDIT: What I mean by the latter is that it's easy to go overboard on what you're getting in your computer. Building one yourself will drastically lessen the cost no matter what you do, but at the same time, you need to ask yourself a couple questions. And as always, be aware that you don't need a liquid cooled, SLI enabled, overclocked singularity bordering behemoth of a PC. Unless you you do for work, but most home usage doesn't.
A) What do I need to run the games and applications I will use on this computer? I don't mean bare minimum requirements. Ideal. Let your build be one that will play the games you want on the highest settings. Eye candy, etc.
B) What will the system requirements of a game one to two years down the line be? Will I be able to play those well? That i7 you bought should last you beyond Haswell, for example(Unless Haswell is super fucking duper).
Kingston 8 GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
Intel Core i3-2100 3.1 Ghz
MSI H61M-P23 B3 Intel H61 Socket LGA1155 B
MSI Radeon HD 6770 1 GB DDR5
500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive
is what I put together.
Hey, I'm in the process of resubbing and just wanted some advice on how I run my settings for optimal peformance>quality.
i purchased this alienware laptop back june 2010 with the sole intent on ff14. when i played before, the settings were acceptable but performance left some to be desired.
Adapter Description ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 [x2 Crossfire]
Adapter RAM 1.00 GB (1,073,741,824 bytes)
OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73GHz, 1730 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Any advice on what settings I should run would be appreciated! Thanks!
Has anyone had the chance to see if XIV runs (at all) on the new integrated graphics platforms from Intel(HD 4000 I think it's called)?
Edit: I was just told the new series isn't really available to consumers yet, but my question lingers for later![]()
Hey all,
Another one of "those" posts, asking if this is good enough to run ffxiv:
Intel Core i7-3820 BX80619I73820 Processor - Quad Core, 10MB L3 Cache, 1MB L2 Cache, 3.60GHz (3.90GHz Max Turbo),
HD 7850 Core Edition Video Card - 2GB, GDDR5, 860MHz
8 GB Ram.
I played ffxiv on a much inferior computer when it first game out, but the lag was so bad I found the game un-enjoyable (no idea if the issue was my computer or the game). I'm trying to see if I will be able to enjoy the game essentially lag free, allowing me to play the game properly and decide if I like it.
Intel grafix like a bauce

I'm trying to play this one my laptop. Its a Toshiba Satellite c655. It has a dual core pentium B960 cpu @2.2ghz and 4gb of ram. I know this laptop is a PoS but I am getting impatient. I tried running the game. I don't have fraps but i'll guess I got around 5-8 fps. the problem I am having is with the graphics options. Does this game have built in hardware detection that limits what you can change? In game I can only toggle shadows, dust, physics, and something else i forgot on or off. The game stays in windowed mode, which I believe hampers performance as well. There is no option for me to change to full screen, no anti aliasing options or AO or textures and all that stuff. Whats up with that?
Edit: Do you have to have dedicated graphics to change those settings that I mentioned?
Thanks, game looks like playstation one, but i'm getting playable frame rates >.>
I tried a couple of google searchs on how well would a MacBook Pro perform with FFXIV but I only got results from 2010.
Can anyone tell how well would the game run with the new MacBook Pro "15 (2012) ?
2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.7GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
512GB Solid State Drive
MacBook Pro 15-inch Hi-Res Glossy Widescreen Display
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
You should be fine to run it at max, possibly without turning on occular occlusion and keeping AA around X2. My desktop has a i7-3860, gtx580(3gig), and a samsung 830 SSD. I have everything turned up and maxed and rarely drop below human eye perceptible levels. Usually fraps around 44fps in ul'dah during peak times. Big natalan pulls can slow it down (lots of mobs all doing stuff and 8 party members all doing shit) but the Hicups aren't an issue with me and completing combos, etc. if I turned of OO or dialed back the AA I wouldnt even notice that.
Thank you!
If I may, one last question:
How would you think this laptop (below) would parse against the above MacBook Pro "15 2012? (regarding FF14, of course)
Asus G75VW-DS72 17.3"
Intel Core i7 i7-3610QM 2.30 GHz
16 GB DDR3-1600/PC3-12800
GeForce GTX 670M 3 GB GDDR5
750 GB HDD - 256 GB SSD
Would the higher memory and better video-card be a better choice over a slightly slower processor?
Thank you once more, I'm trying to get rid of this ALIENWARE that I'm using right now. It is, hands down, the worst electronic product I have ever owned in my whole life.
I would go with the Asus, for overall gaming not just XI. The specs I mentioned garner me a score of something retarded in the official XIV Hardware test (this is somewhat out dated, but still a decent measuring tool I assume)
That Asus actually sounds really nice tbh
Considering buying a new gaming laptop with FFXIV in mind. I'm not very familiar at all with how these things stack up.
How would the model one step down from the Asus in the previous question fare?
ASUS G55VW
3 gen Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM 2.3 GHz (turbo 3.3GHz)
15,6” Full HD (1920*1080) LED
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M 2GB GDDR5 VRAM
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz memory
750GB 7200rpm HDD (which I'll replace with a SAMSUNG 830 SERIES 256GB SSD SATA/600 MLC)
