His CPU is way better.

I'm running a i5 3570k. I didn't know Hyper-threading made a difference in FFXIV. (or any game for that matter.)
I know I'm super late to the party, and everyone is probably sick of these questions, but I'm not very tech-savvy and would really appreciate some feedback. I've been wanting to play the game for a while and I'm considering buying this PC from a friend. I just copy-pasted the specs. I'm not quite sure what a "Intel Onboard Graphics Card" entails........ Would this PC be able to run the game? I'm fine with not being able to run it at the highest setting.
intel Core i5 2500k @ 3.3Ghz
Custom CPU Cooler
Asus P8Z68-V LE (Supports 32GB Ram,SLI or Crossfire)
8GB DDR3 1600 Kingston Hyper X T1 Gaming Ram
150GB 10,000RPM Sata Drive
Intel Onboard Graphic Card
400W PSU
DVD+/-RW Sata Drive
I have no idea what the on board graphics cards on these new motherboard are worth, but I'd say even if it's any good you'd still need to buy a graphic card.
"Intel Onboard Graphic Card"
Not going to say this can't run the game, but it's certainly not ideal.
Keep in mind that 2.0 will have new specs (though they should be the same or lower than 1.0), so no one can tell you definitively how well your system will run.
It probably would Not run the game. Needs a Graphics card, and therefore probably a 500/750W PSU. Otherwise, the rest of the stuff seems standard.
Yeah, once again: the whole thing is not horrible, but would need a graphic card and that means a better PSU too. Only get that if he gives you a good deal.
Thanks for the responses guys. I probably can't afford a new graphics card, unfortunately.
Sorry to ask again, but would this set-up need any upgrade?
intel Core i7 2700k @ 3.5Ghz
Custom CPU Cooler
MSI P67A-GD55 B3 (Supports 32GB Ram,SLI or Crossfire)
8GB DDR3 1600 Gaming Ram
640GB 7,200RPM Sata Drive
ATI HD4650 1GB Graphic Card
400W PSU
DVD+/-RW Sata Drive
That one will probably need a video card and PSU as well. You'll be able to play in a 1280x720 window at low settings with that card, but probably not much more than that. :/
These PCs are very mismatched. Great, fairly pricy CPUs and such and then just useless graphics cards. You'd probably be better off and would pay a similar amount if you could find a PC with something like a Phenom II and a better video card, probably a 6800 series or so.
Yikes, thanks for the information though. I'll just hold off until the 2.0 requirements are released.
See you guys then![]()
Got a 5216 on High with a 3570k and a MSI GTX 660 OC. I was expecting around a 5700. 306.97 Drivers

Got the pc run benchmark ...
FFXI high res - 11742 score
FFXIV high res - 891... wtf
FFXIV low res - 1872 score...
So... I would image I need to spend more for the PC to game FF14...
I'll stay in FF11...
Just wait for the new benchmark to make the final call. Although it is kinda low, indeed.
This was done on
Xeon E3-1240v2 @ 3.40GHz dual cores.
4GB ECC RAM
1GB Nvidia Quadro 600 + 1024MB dedicated.
My older PC did FFXI test high res with 5000+ but getting better FFXIV result. And it's AMD quad core, 8GB RAM and 1GB Nvidia card... This was bought almost 2 years ago.
What is best setup then?!
First new benchmark is supposed to be released with beta of ARR, and that would be around the end of January.
When is ARR slated to be released? Did they shut down FFXIV servers?
Sorry, have not really kept up with this game since I have never had a PC to play it. If I have some time until release I may just save up for a better PC.
Right now I have these specs:
AMD FX4100 quad core processor 3.6GH
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon 6670 1GB
480W PSU
Are there maybe a few upgrades I can make that would have been able to play 1.0 or would I need overall a new PC?
FFXIV is semi shut down yes
It's coming back up monday iirc (free to play) but nothing new it' jsut so people can hang out
Currently it's Alpha with JP only
Global alpha next week possibly and beta starts in January
No official date for AAR release but people thinking Feb-April
As for specs we got some alpha specs but they can change. But SE said that if yo ucan run 1.0 NP you'll be fine for 2.0
