My PC specs are
Q9550 OC 3.2GHz
8GB ram DDR2
ATI 5870
Windows 7 Ultimate
pretty sure my PC will able to handle FF14 at full settings.
Also I remember reading somewhere ff14 will be DX9 only..

No one uses CRTs anyways, so the statement isn't far off. LCDs have that slight blur that I think would negate much of the improvements of getting over 30fps.There is a huge difference on CRTs with FPS.
There's a noticable difference between 30 and 60 FPS even on an LCD, but to be honest everything above 60 looks the same to me.
I've seen that a couple times in this thread but it's entirely untrue, just look it up. There's no actual "frame rate" that the human eye can't see beyond, simply because the human eye doesn't process visual stimuli in the same manner as animated media.
There's probably a cutoff point somewhere, but the only thing for sure is that at the upper ends of the FPS scale it becomes marginal improvements as it improves. I think the only thing that's ever been suggested with reasonable certainty is that the improvements in FPS become harder and harder for the human eye to track above somewhere around 75 FPS.
That's a good point. The eye itself is like a CCD camera rather than a raster-scanning display. What limits vision is processing speed in the visual cortex. Cats have a much faster visual cortex than humans, so the frame rate on TVs looks S-L-O-W to them, in the unlikely event that your cat is awake.
The 'myth' of 24~30 fps being the max only applies to shitty displays like theatres and televisions where you're getting images flashed at you in a dark room, where the afterimage burned into your retinas fills in the would-be gaps between frames. You will see a difference in over 30 fps if you're using a CRT monitor or a nice LCD with very little blur.
Had a browse through the thread, but just wanted to ask. My PC is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3GHZ, 2 GB of ram and an ATI Radeon 4870 on windows XP SP3, think i'll need to do any upgrades to play FFXIV on decent settings? I really wanted to know in advance. thanks. (thinking more ram possibly?)
Yeah, you might have trouble running a hi-spec game with 2 gigs of ram. Try aiming for 4, and if you have extra money, 8. You might also want to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7, because I'm not sure if FFXIV will be compatible with XP. They confirmed windows 7 and Vista already. A graphics card update will probably be needed, as well.
Wow. If he has issues, then I'm boned. I'm on an AMD Phenom II X3 720 @2.8Ghz (haven't overclocked yet), 4GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon HD4850 with a Corsair HX520W Modular PSU. Of course the PSU doesn't matter, but it would be important for the video card and what not. D: Either way... if I can run it at least mid-level, that'd be awesome.
Of course we don't know what the game's specs are just yet, so we have to wait and see.
Only if you're on x86. If you use a 64bit version that there's no problem. Don't forget to mention that![]()
Is NVIDIA 6150 256mb good enough graphics card?

would Is NVIDIA 6150 256mb be a good enough graphics card for a game like aion then?
Since the beta sign-ups was recently released, where they asked what ones graphic card and processor was... is there a way to further the speculations of the system requirements?
My stationary PC just broke down and I need to replace it for work. :X
