Do you people think an iMac could run FFXIV?
Do you people think an iMac could run FFXIV?
Are you running windows?
Is it a dual-core processor?
Does it have a Geforce 8***, 9***, or 2** series card?
Does it have 2+ GB of RAM?
I think you'd be able to run it if so, but it would likely have to be at very minimum settings.
iMac = insanely overpriced low-level system in a really pretty and shiny box.
Also, what do you mean, you people?!
Im sorry English is not my first language so I write some nonsense here and there.
Im going to get a new computer and iMac is one of the options, specs would be.-
* Boot Camp Windows 7
* Core Duo 3 Ghz
* 8 GB
* ATI Radeon HD 4670 256MB
And I know iMacs are overpriced for what you get but Im not buying it for gaming only there are some reasons why its a good option for me so just wondering if that could run fine XIV.
1. Don't buy the iMac. DON'T BUY IT. You can get a computer that's like 100x faster for the same price.
2. Boot Camp is the virtual Windows OS, correct? I don't have personal experience with it but had heard that it runs games like absolute shit.
Apple's Boot Camp is basically a set of drivers and small programs that help a Windows partition use the hardware inside your Mac. It's not a virtual OS setup like VirtualPC. Your Windows partition boots up into regular-old-Windows, and your Mac OS partition boots up into regular-old-awesome. :3
i7 920 / 6gb DDR3 / HD5970 would be enough to play at max settings at 1920x1080?
you guys are going to essplode.
First of all, its a MMORPG so chances are very high that it'll be optimized for not-so-powerful setups as well. Seriosuly...quad core requirement? Just finished a bottle of JD?
Any decent setup with a mid class graphics card should be able to run it well(medium settings, standard 16:10 / 4:3 resolutions)....So I really wouldn't pay attention to people who pull "meh it'll prolly run with very minimum settings ^_^" out of their ass. I'm telling you, you'll also be able to run it with a decent dual core and a budget card at the time of the release on medium settings.
Way to fuck your own crediblity.
No, you didn't hear such a thing because a Windows installed Mac runs them just as good as a PC with identical specs.I don't have personal experience with it but had heard that it runs games like absolute shit.
Can people that got accepted into the beta/alpha post their specs? clearly they aren't going to accept you if your machine can't even run the game.
Pretty sure he was joking lol. i7 920 is great and its what I'm getting this month. 920 + Corsair H50 pump = 3.7-4.0Ghz Overclocked <3
This week cant come any sooner. Praying that I get into this second round of invites.![]()
I agree with your sediment with the pricing, I myself am pretty exclusively a PC builder and don't care for macs aside from their notebooks, which are pretty nice to have.
But uh, Boot camp, as others have said, basically does what the name suggests: allows an Apple machine to boot with a Windows OS on a separate partition. It's more or less just running windows on a Mac, not an emulation. You might be thinking of Wine, which technically does run some games perfectly to some degree, but I honestly wouldn't recommend Wine over Bootcamp.
They don't know exactly what won't run the game, that's the purpose of beta, to have a bigger pool of data to eventually determine what the bare minimum requirements (and recommended) to print on the box.Can people that got accepted into the beta/alpha post their specs? clearly they aren't going to accept you if your machine can't even run the game.
signed up now on 3 sites so hoping to get lucky, its a right pain in the ass that i didn't get the first round my nerves are tightly wound.
I have to wait for the PS3 sign ups :/
._. I'm really, really tempted to lock this thread for a while until beta starts, or until SE releases some hardware requirements. Honestly, I'm getting tired of seeing the update on the thread, only to come here and see that there's been no meaningful information released. I mean seriously, we've had 12-14 pages (depending on PPP setup) of non-information, mostly from people talking about their own systems (I've mentioned mine a few times in thread, so I'm guilty too) and if the game will run it well. We don't know yet!
Actually, yeah, I am. We'll reopen it when we actually know what sort of system is needed to run the game. For all we know, we could find out in a few days, and then we can open it again to see if our systems can match up with what SE suggests. Until then.. may thebe with you.
